They are getting nasty for sure. Now, as long as local tracks are willing to throw $1000 a day at the track for traction compound and maybe buy a $30,000 Rotator to work the rubber in...all the power will be consistent. If track prep falls off due to track trying to survive, financially, that will become a question.

Looks like a great engine though ;-)

I think we're just beginning to see the potential in those 9* heads. Wait until they really start to get refined... I'm thinking of selling my top end and making the switch to them. Been talking a bit to MBE about them some....

John Asta has a Sunset engine in his S/G-S/C car and it goes 8.90 or 9.90 at 185+

I think it's a 632 but don't know what heads are on it

It made over 1300hp I believe..

I've done the homework on the 9 degree heads. Ain't nobody making 1400 HP with them yet with a wet sump and single 4 barrel bracket/super class engine. Last I spoke to Matt he wanted $17,000 for complete heads and manifold.

I haven't done the full package price yet, and I'd be running a tunnel ram setup instead of the single four. I'm also running a dry sump and am at 665". Have 55mm cam now, but going to go to a 60mm core, better lobe choices....just need to decide who will grind the cam....

Whats the metrics for defining impressive?

With the parts that are on the market right now this kind of topic has lost its appeal. Anyone with money can build a really nice car with highly refined parts. in this day and age I am more impressed with peoples ability to build quality racecars (win/loss percentage) with less money.

While I appreciate the overall engineering of these engines, they are about as big block Chevy as my kids jr dragster engine is a Briggs & Stratton.

Can't argue with that. Just a lot of money to race Super class prize money. But, everyone has their own boundaries. Mine is race more for bigger prize money and keep it at a lower price level (probably because I am hopping into the S10 this May as a 71 year old "I still love racing and hope to keep turning on some win lights".

Hope you all have a great season.

Didn't realize I was speaking for anyone else but I digress...

Your right nothing I have is "impressive", I challenge you to find someone running faster, cheaper and more laps than my "junk" though.

nobody cares about your junk, clearly this thread ain't for you and your lack of finances to be able to afford one of these impressive engines.

The only thing impressive about these engines are their ability to seperate people from their wallets.

Less than 2.2 hp per cubic inch at this price point is not impressive.
