I just found out about the new Edelbrock VRS 4150 carb. With about 50 years of development behind the Holley and variants, I thought there was no way that meaningful improvements could be made but this new Edelbrock looks really, really good.

I have yet to even see someone using one. Sorry I’m no help.

I bought the 750, put it on my footbrake car and it slowed down .15 and 2 mph. WTF??? I haven't got a clue as to why it was so bad. My Q series QFT 650 performed better. I'm at a loss to explain. I'm going to call Edelbrock Monday and see what they can do.

Wow, that's a lot.

Nothing else on the car was changed?

Any indication from drivability issues or plug reading to see what's up?

Where did it lose the ET? 60', by the 330'?
The MPH indicates it's obviously down on HP.

I see you're looking at 650's, how big of an engine you running, and what sort of induction and cam?

I had a new combo that ran .4 slow under my "go to" carburetor, yet the plugs looked perfect. Too perfect, in fact, so I jetted up 4 sizes all around and found the .4, and some more. I NEVER would have believed it if I didn't see it myself.

Nothing else was changed. Driveability was OK. Engine is 370 SBF with Vic Jr., bigger cam than what I wanted 252 and 260 duration at oh fifty, so lopey idle for sure. The Edelbrock comes with 72's all around and ( 4.5 ) power valves front and rear. The picture window PV's that flow more than the little holes. I'm curious to know how many jet sizes that the PV would account for. Holley books would say 6-8 for the "smaller" power valve, so maybe 10 for the picture window type. I don't know. Power valve channel restrictor would limit the flow I GUESS.
Losses were through every increment. Plugs were "dirty". Pretty dark black. My instinct would be to take out 5 jet sizes and see what happens.

Well, I'd ditch the rear power valve for sure, right away, and go to a 79 or 80 jet back there.
We used to go 8-10 jet sizes for a power valve, but that is always going to be on the rich side.
I think the reality is 6-8 numbers.

Good idea about PV. I did some snooping and found the power valve channel restriction is a whopping .059 compared to a Holley double pumper. That translates to a bunch of jet sizes. The plugs were so dirty, they were starting to break down the following day with a "good" carb. I'm starting with 68's in front and 76 in back with no PV in secondary. Test it Thursday nite. Thanks for the advice.

Friend of mine ran the 850 all summer. Ran as fast as his high dollar S/Stock quadrajet and the plugs looked great. 392" bracket SBC in 3200 ex-S/S 3rd Gen Camaro.
I think he is going to try some ideas Edelbrock gave him when the season kicks open in the Spring.
