I had considered changing just for this reason because of all the high gear racing I did. I didn't want it to tighten my converter though with the low powered engine I run, so I cooled the trans between rounds to make sure I was down to at least 180° when I roll in.

I do probably run a thinner fluid than most though using Redline's lightweight racing atf. IIRC my fan is on a 160° switch.

When I have gone to the line at 200° or more I start to see a difference in flash stall. On my footbrake car it starts making a difference in ET and reaction time. I realize my car can't really be compared to something like these 4 second dragsters but could be to Mark's stuff.

I'm assuming Allison's Transynd is synthetic. Where do I get it?

I've been using ATI's synthetic ATF "F" for years. It's bottled by Driven.

Typcially you can get it at Heavy truck shops, that service and work on Alison transmissions. You can also get it from Amazon for roughly the same price.

I started using Transynd exactly for this reason on my footbraked Chevelle. I was cooking the fluid prior to making the change.

Can't say I wouldn't try another fluid, I will say we haven't had issues related to fluids nor have we burnt up fluid. We make alot of laps and race in extreme heat conditions. High gear combinations are really hard on fluid temps, still not burnt up.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

For what its worth, I have tried and burned up for various reasons a bunch of different trans fluids when I made the switch to TD. A few years back I made the switch to Castrol Allison Transynd and have never looked back.
Last season I ran the whole season without pulling the trans or changing fluids.

My 2nd choice would be Lucas semi synthetic, I had really good luck with that while bracket racing

same here and it should be noted you too use the original Allison Transynd made by Castrol. I would use no other.

I also use Lucas Semi-Synthetic trans fluid (not to be confused with Bud Light "tranny" fluid) and had great results.

My son Mike uses Type F in his TD (6.12 @ 227) and also has had great results. Hard to believe but it works.

Are you fellas that have trouble with temps late in rounds using a fan as well. We are lighter than most and small blocks....but even when on a 1200 hp plus tune, we don't get the fluid hot going rounds. Usually late in rounds I'd flip the fan on on the return road and that's it. Dexron

If running transynd fluid what temp is too high? I double a lot and it trans has been getting up to 190-195 after second pass in 85* weather. Hot weather is coming just figuring it will run hotter as it warms up outside and curious what temp I should avoid. I have a leaf blower I use when needed. It has a stacked plate cooler with a fan on it. This is running high gear only.

Per Tom Johnson who develop Transynd for Allison...

"It will take all the heat the transmission can deliver. Max converter out temperature is 330F (intermittent)."

It is great, buy it!

I've been using it for 18 years in my race cars, a year longer than I've been using DOT5 brake fluid. Laughing very hard
