Goodyear Now Owns M/T
This may make both brands better.

Or it may not change a thing...............

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Let’s not forget that the retired tire engineers were hired by Asian companies to show them how to build a quality tire....

I guess there was more to it when the goodyear engineer late last season told me the new 2719 Top Dragster tire had a Top Fuel compound with a big Bubba side wall HMMMM

I have wondered that also. Could be the giant roll out killing ET. I really don't know. Are they faster or just faster because you don't shake and if you can run GY without shaking they are faster?

there faster is why

I'm going to guess that racing tires are such a tiny sliver of the market that the corporate suits don't even know that M/T is a part of what they bought when they acquired Cooper. I therefore wouldn't look for much (if anything) to change.

I suppose M/T employees will now join GY and Coca Cola employees, (in being forced to take "woke" training on how to act "Less White")? Big Grin

On a serious note, I hope GY does not do to M/T and Cooper Tires, what MSD did to Mallory, (buy a competitor who makes a superior product but doesn't know how to market it successfully, and kill them). Mad
I smell something rotten here, I am afraid thousands of good hard-working folks are about to hit the unemployment line. Frown
I was just thinking the other day about recommending the Cooper Discoverer AT3XLT to any of you needing new truck tires. After ditching my 2nd set of the uneven-wearing, belt-separating GY Wranglers 6 months ago, I am still extremely pleased with the Made In USA Coopers. More aggressive tread, yet quieter. Better traction in mud and snow. Longer (50K Mile) treadwear warranty. More load capacity. Better looking. More sidewall strength/stability. A bit more costly, well worth it in my book. May as well get you some before they are gone.

I was hooked up and tested slicks for Goodyear. Not sure the year, but was around time after they took a very good D2032 and tried to make it better. I tested a set they messed up the crown on and then a supposed production version. D25??. They worked ok but like all of them, they would toss you a total loss of traction down track when things got wet late in the race. Just around that time the engineer I worked with was let go as well as my connection and Competition Tire South the big distributor. I caved and swapped to MT. Although slower, leaked air and the odds of a good pair was low, I used them. MT Buddy was great at replacing a new bad set. I put up with the other quality issues for one reason. On late nights and heavy dew on the track, I could get down it and that was money. **** it was like a secret weapon lol

And over the last couple years, MT have gotten worse with dewy conditions on the big end, when they get past 50% used. This being in a 4.50-4.60 dragster.

It was always a cheap junk tire that hasn’t held air for decades and never had quality control! Now that the romance with the bubbas is over for many, most will go back to the winningest tire is sportsman drag racing...Hoosier including those that are about to lose factory support aka free tires.

Only way Hoosier goes back to the "winningest tire in sportsman racing" is if that is the only tire people can get. #truthandfacts

Wrong they are, have been and will continue to be the winningest tire in NHRA Spoetsmwn drag racing. Their tires are in more cars than all others combined!

Jr fuel guys swear by GY's. Weight and tire spd are king reasons for them. As hard as it is to believe some cars don't work well with tire that hooks hard no matter what.

I have M/T's that loose air like crazy' They leak about half pound every month or two. I have had Firestones that leaked before end of burnout. I had a set of gy's 20 years old that held air for three years. All of that don't mean shyt. If the tire works, runs fast and consistent I am good with it.

Why worry about it will do to either tire till they are hitting the track.

I run the tires that help me win more rounds, races and Championships.

Right now that is MT tires. I am not going to say what is best for your car but I know what works best on mine.

Biggest negative I see is less compition in the market place. Upside. Maybe M/T was going under or at least had some issue that allowed GY to buy them. Maybe GY seen need to get back into sportsman class' and this was best way to do so.

Lots of ways it can workout and only time well tell. Agree with Torqin GY will do well from this. Hey buy competitors out worked got for Rockefeller.
