14* Olds heads and 632 combo
I'm new to the GM aftermarket world and have been racing Mopars for ever. I recently bought a 14* 632 with 2.470 intakes, .900ish cam, 15-1 compression, with a single 1250 APD gas carb. I am just curious what to expect ET & HP wise. It will go in my dragster that should weigh around 1900 with me in it. Any help appreciated.

Done correctly, I would have to imagine it is on par with most of the 12* headed stuff, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't 4.40-4.50 range, up around or above 1200 hp... We recently just rebuilt our 565 with the 22538816 OLDS oval port heads after finding a bunch of problems from previous owner/builder, I'm realistically hoping it goes high 4.60/low 4.70 in my 2000 lb dragster thinking it'll make 1075-1100 hp.. Just fired it up yesterday, we'll see what it runs hopefully this weekend.

I have a 615 with those heads, 4.428 best in 500 feet DA. 4.48 at 2500 DA.

They like RPM. 7850 in the lights in Super Comp mode at 184 MPH.

Thanks guys, that's what I am hoping for. Has anyone put a small shot of NOS on one, like 150?

Also, any weight's on the cars would be helpful. Steel or aluminum block?

Tommy my car is 2045 with me in it. I have ran a 150,200,250,and 300 shot on mine but it is smaller than yours at 615. Steel block.

Thanks for the info Moe. I'm just curious if I could make the show with a 150 shot for a few seconds. I don't think my car will weigh more than 1900, maybe 1950 with me in it and an aluminum block.

After getting out with mine, it ended up only going about a 4.81 at 142-143 currently. I have a few things to play with, hoping to get it into the mid 70's sometime with current setup, but my car weighs roughly 2000-2025 with me in it. I might try a couple converters and play with timing and jet just a touch to see how much more I can get out of mine with the current combo.

What do your guys' cam shafts look like? I'm kind of wondering, and have been told mine is possibly off a little on my exhaust duration/overlap numbers.

Mine is 283/296@.050 114* separation. It's like 881/824 lift. From what I am reading this seems like more of a conventional headed 565-598 cam, and I need a ton more exhaust duration at the least.

It's only still a 565. You are going to have to turn it with no inches and those heads. They are made to move air and like cubic inches.
A converter with at least 6600 flash
Be careful with cam choices, if your compression is not 15. or more.

Be careful with cam choices, if your compression is not 15. or more. With your .881 it is probably based on a .500 +/- lobe with lash and deflection you are gonna be in the .840 range.

Converter goes to 6700, lobe is a .476/.456 or something, 1.85/1.80 int/exh rockers tho. Compression is 15.25-1. I tried playing with shift, didn’t seem like I gained anything going from a 7400 to 7700 shift. 60’ was ok at a 1.075, but doesn’t seem to mph any..

Here are the specs for a 565 i had with the same heads on it. 284/307@.050 114* and .507 intake and .474 exhaust lobes. I ran this in my Undercover dragster that was closer to 1920lbs with a shorter 33 tire and it ran 7.18-7.20 around 188-190mph

Thanks for the info guys! I guess with a 150 shot I might qualify if people don't get faster next year........maybe.
