What are the latest thoughts and products to minimize Methanol corrosion in carbs and fuel systems?

Klotz KL-107 Uplon lube, one quart per drum of fuel, and don’t worry about it.

That’s my process.

Controlling methanol corrosion? What's that? Have they made aluminum fuel cells mandatory, or something?

I’m new to alky...the klotz was awful for me..switched to liquid power an zero problems

Wow I have been using Klotz for 10 years and generally only 16oz per drum, thats 1/2 the recommended amount and I have never had any corrosion at all and that includes my aluminum tank and Enderle barrel valve on my TD.

Exactly the same for over 10 years. Nothing better. Smells like burning rubber. You’ll like it.

Ok....school me.....I have considered alcohol. I have an aluminum cell and thought it was a must I remove it and convert to a plastic Jaz or equivalent. ...BIG STEVE says he hasn't had an issue and runs aluminum.....thoughts?

Have always had aluminum fuel cells and never had issue with alky.

Only problem I have had with corrosion was from cheap hose and fittings. Still I do use a top lube.

larry in your neighborhood tell them you want their synthetic lube in your barrell ,it works.i suggest draining bowls.it makes the floats last longer

You're looking for problems, unless the drain the fuel.

What are Russell fittings made of?

If you want to do a alky carb BG, I have the main body you can barely see on the right, collecting dust, I'll donate to the cause.

I upgraded to the billet center you see in 2017. You pay the shipping I'll send it to BLP for ya.

It's what you want sbc,750 cfm main body, 850 billet base plate.

That and a belt pump.

Weekly

I switched my Nova to alky in 2000. I’ve never changed a hose or fitting. Same BLP belt pump.

Every winter the carb comes off, is drained and gets new floats. The pump is capped with fuel in it.

If the engine comes out, the pump is removed and filled with ATF. The cell and other fuel lines remain full of alky.

I didn’t run my dragster at all last year, but the cell and Terminator system is all full of alky and ready to go from 2 years ago.

Been running alcohol for years and zero corrosion issues in my car or the two jr dragster. No top end lube.

Don't drain it from carb week to week or anything special. I'm winter take off carb. Blow it out good and spray with wd-40. That is for all cars.

Never a drop of corrosion.

Fuel pump magnafuel 500 looks like it's brand new. Been sitting in alcohol since it was installed.

Apd carb on mine. Just repeated 3 runs within .0007 sec in 1/4.

Kids jr varied .012 across 5 runs..2 could be thrown out because it's his first outing of the year and he went a little deep on two getting used to things.

If your getting corrosion you have something in the fuel delivery system causing problems.

the only reason i drain fuel is for the floats,these hand made blow thru floats are exspensive and dont have to be very heavy to cause an issue.normal floats dont seem to have as much issues.also i woner if the amount of moisture in the air plays into the corrosion issues

The bowls are new 2017. This carb was new in 2007, by 2015 - 16 or so, the bowls had what was like beach sand, on the floor.

When you drain the bowl to preserve the float, there will be residual fuel left on the floor of the bowl which will rot the floor of the bowl.

The bowls which came on this carb weren't coated, Mark at BLP suggested these coated bowls.

I won so many Super Pro bracket races with this carb, it could've had beach sand on the floor of the bowl every other week,and it wouldn't have bothered me.

This carb was in 13 Super Pro finals on 21 entries in 2008 at Sunshine, no other carburetor has ever had a season like that at Sunshine. BLP 850 cfm main 750 base.
