I've been running Ethanol since around 2009. I agree with Wooley & A39Coronet. I did an A-B test with an ethanol carburetor to a Ken Jones Methanol and the Ken Jones was faster in the 1/8 by over a tenth. I dont drain my fuel system but i do put a cap on my fuel cell vent and a plastic cap on my carb if its gonna sit a while.

Whose alcohol carb was it? If you were faster on E-85 the methanol carb wasn't right or was smaller. JMO from what I have seen.

Eric Niefert @ Horsepower Innovations Ethanol carb, Ken Jones Methanol carb. You are correct the methanol was faster...

Sorry man, my reading comprehension needs some work. I read it as you saying the E-85 being faster.

I have been running e85 for 6 years keep the fuel cell vent capped. it is in between gas and methanol, cheaper than both. I have won two track championships using Horse Power Innovations carb this stuff works great.

My 1050 Dominator also came from Eric @ Horsepower Innovations. Out of the box it was bad, required two or three TNTs and a dozen emails to get it right. Once it was good, it was untouched for several years and was a workhorse.

I then bought 1000HP 4150 from him. It showed up late, with the wrong boosters, and was an absolute paperweight. Car was 1/2 second slow compared to the dominator. Found his air bleads still had the "hanging Chad's" blocking the holes. Made a ton of changes as advised with no results. Sent the carb back and even he said "it wouldn't do a burnout on my Camaro, something's wrong". He ended up trying to charge me a 10% restocking fee when I asked for a refund (four wasted trips to the track, an air bleed kit, $ to ship it back). I think we settled on 5%, mainly because "it looks like it was bolted into a car".

Never again will he get my money. In fact, my 71 Cuda is getting FI E-85 partially because of that experience.

I had Mark Sullen convert my 950 to e85. The carb sat for about a year and a half before I decided to put it on the car. First time I started the car with his carb it lite right off and ran great . At the track in Sept 2019 first time out the car picked up a tenth and a half never even got a chance to mess with it . The car repeated very nice , Runner up in 2 of the 3 races that weekend. Yesterday I started the car first time since Sept 15thit fire right up purrs like a kitten. This winter it got down to 9degrees for a few week , mostly 15 - 25 degrees ,where I live it has low humidity (high dessert) never capped the vent. Very pleased with Marks products.
