Personally I would cerakote them. Powder will eventually flake. Anodized would be okay but will tend to fade over time. Cerakote is easy to re-apply also if you need to. Good luck!

Most everyone carries a dzus tool with them, including a lot of safety personnel. If you have an emergency while you are in the car or a starting problem, leak, fire, most can get that hood open quick, not so with the newer hex design.......

Good point. On my car there is nothing except maybe the battery that can't be accessed without the tool.

For sure Hex. We sell a LOT of them and it's probably 20-1 hex over slot now. They hold up much better than slotted.

We offer our button heads for dragster panels with a powder coated head to meet rule requirements that don't allow an all black fastener. Spring ejects are anodized since they're fastened to the car and don't fall under the rule.

Although there is some merit to the fire / problem deal I'd say it's pretty common for someone to have a hex tool now, especially if you have them on YOUR car.

Fire? I'd say most racers are so concerned with fire, they DONT have a fire extinguisher in their car. Maybe some do.

either way... we gotte'm (hex or slotted) or you can purchase ours through JEGS or Summit.

I will take my chances with the hex. If it is a true emergency they can rip the fiberglass parts off mine. I carry a hex driver velcroed inside my roadster.

Another vote for Hex. Way less chance of slipping off the slot and scratching paint, more and more people switching to them and really should be no reason you don't have one readily available in the car in case of emergency.

We use Collector Tethers Hex heads with the powdercoated heads. They have held up exceptionally well over the last 3-4 years, and look the same as the new ones we had to buy for a new build. Color didn't fade and none have chipped. Very nice quality.

Hex all the way. As for finish I would not worry with it.Lot of trouble to get each one back where it goes IMO.

I have a bunch of the Collectortether hex on my Front Engine Dragster and I like them.

I am a little concerned about getting body panels off in an emergency. One thing is with the hex head you do not slip off as easy and scratch your car.
