It's been a minute since I've been on here...and we haven't been racing much. Work and family shifted priorities. But, we are racing when we can.

The last couple seasons, when I do get to the track, my reaction times have been all over the place. The seem good in time runs and then start swinging during eliminations. I've replaced solenoids, the trans is fresh, etc.

This years (2 weeks ago) I get the car out at Norwalk and I seem solid: .006, 003, .011, .024 (missed), rolled .005 out to be -.003 over a few days.

Friday I go to KilKare and I get in a little deep, but I am .007 during time run. First round I am .040...second round I am .031. I felt good on both let go's. I started thinking and looking back at old tickets when I was swinging all over the place (20's 30's 40's back to 20's) and realize that if I subtract the dial differences I'm 0's and teens.

Anyone ever had a K&R box actually go bad and make RT's swing? Or am I outa practice?? LOL

If you use Grid and have +12v for TB button you can use it to check the delay box release times vs what was programmed. My experience has been operator or vehicle at fault. The link is old and was updated this year.

This is my experience also. The majority of times it was my issue & seldom the vehicle!

With 10 years in the tower, I have had the feeling that Crosstalk makes weird things happen. Countless times I've watched the same good racers be all .00x in time runs then when Crosstalk comes on for eliminations, many instances of both racers being .04x or worse.

Never saw the same in the non delay classes.

I also back in the car had some issues like yours, and got a Precision Reaction to check things. It was mostly me.
I do catch an occasional + .001 on the delay time but never more than that, UNTIL I had a failure of my Mega-200 and put in a new spare unit, it is ALWAYS .003 late, and occasionally + .004

Last time at KK I was 10 red which seemed right. Rolled 20 in and I’m 30 and 30. Rolled 20 out and I’m 10 red. This followed all weekend. I was either 3x green or 1x red rolling the same 20 out or in. I believe it was all me but it was frustrating at best lol.

Man it's tough when it gets in your head.
Some (a LOT) of off season in car tree practice will help restore your feel.

Speaking of Edgewater yesterday, I had to put numbers in I didn't even know the box had. Laughing Hard

Same delay setting I've been on for over 2 years...off the trailer -.013 red (very rare for me), rolled .013 in for 1st round, -.004 red (could happen) but my guy was LB3A, rolled another .005 in but missed it a little 2nd round to be .035 dead 1 no good.

But, I'll add, this was all left lane, and I rarely run left lane there.

The Precision Reaction gadget actually helps me, if only for peace of mind.

Ive never had issues getting this car down any track…that track was the worse ive ever been on and have the data log to prove it. 3rd round the back end came around… i made my time run in the left and then the rest in the right…

Yeah, after several seasons of pretty reliable prep, it's been a little shaky the last couple of months.
Dunno if it's a materials change or a personnel issue. ?
I hate that, it's a good facility.

My experience with K & R shows their box is an excellent product. In all my personal experiences, it is always the driver or a mechanical problem.

Larry,
And here I thought it was always the Tower or track wiring that causing it...LOL!!!

Thinking and reaction times are never a good match, the less thinking the better. Thank goodness the older I get the LESS I THINK!!

It's hard to admit that it's mostly the Indian and not the arrow. At least that's what we say in the precision bench rest game. 99% of the time it's you and not the rifle.

However, I did have an incident at our local track where it was them and not me. We have the dial in display so you can see it when you're in the burnout box. I was dialed 6.61 to my opponent's 6.64. I looked at the boards before I did my burnout and it was correct.

I let go of the button and when I get my time slip I'm .038 on the tree to his .015. I was pretty sure I had a decent light. I broke out for the loss. Get back to the trailer and apparently the girl in the tower changed my dial right before the run to 6.64, same as my opponent. So my .008 light is now .038

I should have gone and *****ed but I just chalked it up to I need to glance up at the finish line boards before I stage and not go by the dial in boards. Live and learn!

One thing I notice with some digital type boards, at night the display is so bright that it can be hard to read properly. Several boards have dimming features that allow for the board to dim when tail lights are selected if wired to and programmed in the display. I like this feature in Digital Delays boards that I use. My boards dim if I have the interior light or tail lights On.

Not saying this happened to you, just saying.

Mark,

There was no problem with them reading my dial. The staging lane gal (Sarah) comes to you in your car and asks what your dial in is. She then relays that to the tower. What was interesting about this time was she asked me my dial and I told her. She tells the tower car #4417 6.61 and then I heard her say NO, 4417 is 6.61.I then asked her are we good and she gives me the thumbs up and I pull in the water.

I look at the dial boards and it’s correct, 6.61 and he was 6.64 so I do my burn out and stage. Sometime during that period the tower changed my dial. And my dial board on the car has the dimmer but this was a day race.
