I am currently wiring my bracket car and will be using the K&R LED dial board. I can wire it to only display with the ignition on or just wire it to the battery and it will display anytime the battery is on. I'm thinking I will do the latter, that way my dial will be displayed when I'm in the staging lanes before I turn on the ignition. What are your thoughts on this, pros and cons? 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

What if you change your mind last minute, and the opponent doesn't catch it? You know what comes next right? Accusations. You can do it either way, long as you have zero's until you set the dial.

I would not change my dial after pulling out of the lanes before getting in the water box. It is every racer's responsibility to look at both dials before you stage anyways. 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

LOL, when it comes down to it I will. But I did ask for pros and cons. 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

Mine is wired to my ignition, but I wish it were just always on. At the head of staging, my dial is set but nobody can see it until I start the car. With my Digital Delay board, I also can’t set my dial without turning the ignition on. Tony Leonard

That's why I was thinking of wiring it to the battery. That way I won't get asked what are you going to dial, what are you going to dial. I do prefer the K&R stuff over the digital delay but that's just a personal preference, I've had both. 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

When your in the staging lanes, what does this dial mean? Either way you do it, battery or ignition, the dial in board needs this capability, or an on off switch.

I showed my dial in in lanes. It’s a reasonable curtesy to your competitor. A racer without a crew can struggle when an opponent hides it. I always told my opponent when my dial in changed, as well. 2005 2000lb 4 link dragster home brew 582 BBC Dart 355 1.058 2.98 4.629@149 6.094 7.310@185

Yes sir. It's all I'm suggesting to you. 3 pairs back from the pre-stage bulb is standard courtesy, to have a dial in on it. I'd suggest you run the third digit blank until 3 pairs back, unless you're firm on your dial before that point.

Pretty sure Kevin at K&R recommends his delay box and dial board be wired directly to a battery source. That is how mine is wired, as soon as the battery is on so is the box and dial board, dial comes directly from the box via the fiber optic cable.

I don’t know how the K+R works, but with the DD board the screen will read “———“ until you lock the controller. Tony Leonard

In my experience there's no standard or courtesy with respect to dial-ins. Our track has a line designated for the dial to be displayed. It works out to be around 6-7 pairs before head of staging lanes. It's followed pretty well, but their are some that still play the games. 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3000 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Might be division 2 standard, it wasn't a rule they'd DQ you over, but 3 pairs back was standard courtesy. Sunshine they'd have 300 cars every Friday night, to get done by midnight, first round at 8 oclock sharp. Wasn't no fk'n around, everyone had a dial on it, 3 pairs back. There ain't no disadvantage no matter when your opponent dial's in, 1, 2, 3 or 30 pairs back. What ya don't wanna do though, is roll up in the lanes with your dial from the previous round, change it last minute 3 pairs back, and your opponent miss you changed it. You don't wanna win like that. Reason I suggest leave the third digit blank, when you roll up in the staging lanes.

I understand that. Once I'm strapped in my dial-in will be set and that'll be more than three pairs back. 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

I use DD Elite Mega Dial that’s integrated to the relay board/ switch panel and it’s on/off when the disconnect is turned on /off. If you have the dial display wired to the ignition On and you turn the engine off after crossing the line of dials displayed, is that an infraction of the display requirement ??? I have boards behind the glass on both side of the rear hatch but only the side that needs to be displayed to the tower will be active. I write OFF on the glass in front of the display that is not active.

I have my dial board wired to my main power. I don't want to turn on my ignition unless I'm starting the car because my oil accumulator is wired to the ignition. I do have a separate switch that I can disable the accumulator and have the ignition on but I only use that when I'm working on something and need the ignition switch on. I don't want to forget to turn that back on in the lanes. Just how I do it.This message has been edited.
