You talking about the pressure regulator c clip middle/back of the valvebody? If so, usually snap ring pliers that are around 4" usually has small enough t.i.t.s. for it. I usually take something and work the valve up and down a little before trying to remove the snap ring. a small pocket screw driver with a magnet on the end is a good tool to keep close by while doing this. Also, the valvebody needs to be seperated while removing the boost valve and the valve. When the valvebody is torqued together, the boost valve does not like to slide out.

I understand your pain. I fabed up a piece of angle that bolts to the pan rail. I thread a long bolt through the angle to depress the boost valve in enough to allow easier access to the C clip. Obviously this will not be possible if the valve body is not bolted to the case.

HAHA...I feel your pain, aint nothing like pliers slipping and shooting the clip to the sealing and then bouncing on the floor to not be found again until you are working on a completely different transmission.....atleast thats been my problem..LOL
