Would that cam you had in your 582 from bullet work well on gas you think?

Yes absolutely . I ran it on gas and it ran basically the same either way. Me n my daughter double enter everywhere we go and run the snot out of it so I kept it on alky and figured out what it wanted . Hope the 615 will be the same, guess time will tell

What is the durability of these large motors? What are the regularly scheduled or first to fail parts and at how many runs? I assume that rpm range is a big part of the equation too.

Most bracket engines regardless of cubic inches turn no more than ~ 7500 RPM.

Durability largely depends on the end user as well, the car it's going into.

That said, durability is no less than any other bracket engine that was built using quality parts, assembled correctly and has regular oil changes, lash checks and spring checks.

Valve springs and rocker arms are typically what fails and need to be checked regularly as with any bracket engine.

I just finished a 632 with the Sniper X heads and a Terminator. Made 850/1020 and I'm expecting it to ET in the same range you stated.

I won't get an opportunity to run it wide open this season, but on Thursday I was happy to go 8.85 @ 181.

I just did a 632 aluminum block with 12* brodix cnc heads and a single 4 on gas . On the dyno peak torque was at 6200 and peak hp was at 7200 .

Over all your splitting hairs here. Both work great.

Peak power will be determined by the induction system, and in general a larger CID motor will take less rpm to produce peak power than a small CID motor with the same induction system. Peak power for both should be close and peak torque would be higher on the larger motor.

gxp..i raced the hell out of it all year but didnt really get a chance to pick at much. averaged 4.66-4.68 @148 ish. the set up needs more fuel and converter but its deadly as it is.im thinking this winter of either getting a gas carb built for it or injecting it.we will see. just lost my pop a few weeks ago so time spent on the race cars has certainly been cut way back this winter

Well here's an update. I ended up going with a 632 steel block, guessing about 1880-1900lbs. same heads and cam as the 582.
first day out, brand new tires, 3000 ft air on a green track went best of 4.58 149, 7.26 180.9(only 1/4 runs ive made)
Next time out nothing changed on the car other than oil, 400 ft air maybe 50*, it did not like the first carb, went 4.62 popping a little. I switched carbs and added the biggest jet I had. went 4.58 again. the air went to 800ft next pass and it went a 4.56 150. So I need more jet for the good air. The following week it went 4.55 150. The conv is going to almost 6600, I still have other convs I can try, among other things.
So far I am happy with the results, out of the box on alky going 4.50s.

I went 4.51 @ 153 and 7.15 @ 183 Saturday at QC. You did well with yours !
