What's everyones winter upgrades/changes?
Since were not able to race for a while, what's everyone been doing to their race programs to get ready once the tracks are finally able to open?

My upgrades started last fall after our last race in November. First was swapping the V-series front wheels with the Full Throttle front wheel.

Second change was the engine had to be freshened. The engine needed new rods, pistons, lifters rebuilt, cam had a pot mark in one lobe and needed replaced plus all the other normal small parts that needed replaced.

While the engine was out being rebuilt I sent the Coan 400xlt trans to RPM Transmissions to get a checkup.

After that was adding the Co2 bottle & solenoid to the existing PPP air shifter. Next up was adding rear shock sensors. The project grew as my old Autometer MFDL data log dash didn't have any spare open channels so I wound up replacing the whole system with the Racepak Drag Dash logger. Had to make a new mount which wound up being 5 pieces cnc plasma cut, bent, then tig welded together before powder coating. Also used a cnc billet display mount that my engine builders son produces in house.

Looking forward to getting back to this, whenever that may be.

Post up what your up to during the down time.

Are your tracks still racing or was this before the virus shutdown?

This was in Las Vegas & we normally start our season in Jan. or Feb. We stopped racing late March & been on hold since. Tentative schedule is early June, as it stands now.

I actually did my updates before the winter, and made some passes before things started getting out of hand. Methanol conversion, using Killer Ron's injection. Gotta say, I'm liking it.....just too damned hot for me to run now, me and the heat don't get along too well anymore.

We were already in the 90's this last week and it's forecast to be that hot again this coming week....too hot for me to run. I'm getting a cooling vest to wear under my suit but still not going to run the car even if the tracks open....me and the heat just don't get along....

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado. While I could function in the heat and humidity when I was younger, now it really takes its toll on me...you can keep it....I'm headed back in about a year or so....plan was 3-5 years here max anyway....

Been wanting to build a truck for a while so a few yrs ago I picked up a real clean Isuzu Hombre {S10} for $300 with plans of building a cheap bracket truck.

Well ……… Aside from the cheap part, its a pretty cool truck. It's got a 700+hp big block/glide Fab 9 rear, moly cage, 4 wheel disc, set up for footbrake or top bulb. The hood is unique to the Hombre, so no aftermarket stuff is available so I fit the big block under the original factory flat hood but also made my own custom 3" steel cowl hood too.

Trucks up and running and I hope to be painting it in the next few weeks. Been a fun build but waaaaay more work and time than I originally thought. Looks like we might make opening day after all Razz

A new 582

And, thanks to TOP FUEL a fresh and working perfectly powerglide.

Also, many of the racers on her contributed to the trouble shooting on the trans. It was working perfectly for about 300 runs and then just quit flowing fluid. Something stuck in the valve body.

Many thanks to all the helped out with their experience.

Went out to a limited test session, made three runs, had to lift on all three. The new motor ran great, nothing fell off, and the trans worked perfect.

With a good day on a good track, we should be able to get it just right in the TERMINATOR dept and be ready to rock.

Virus be gone.

LET'S GO RACIN BOYS......and GIRLS.

Well I added a swing arm to replace my lower 4 link bars. Just really never could come up with a good place to put an ARB in it.

Made new sleeves for my carb to go from 775 to 975 CFM.

Adding a new aluminum seat to replace the plastic one.

Finally marked a bunch of my ratty wiring with the shrink tube printer I have had for a while.

Added a thermostatically controlled switch for my trans cooler fan. Added oil pressure and water temp to my data recorder. New crab cap crank trigger distributor.

Added interior lighting for strapping in when it's dark.

What is the back spacing of your front wheels. When I installed the TRZ front control arms, coil overs with the stock spindle, it brought the front wheels closer to the front fenders then with the stock control arms. I had to buy ( for now ) steel rims with more back space to clear the fenders on the BU.
