Drive mandrel
Looking for a better drive mandrel for a moroso vacuum pump and to drive the alternator to, for BBC . I have the one with the long stud that screws into the crank . Thanks

Very happy with my APD. Three bolts to the balancer, short bolt in front and built in alternator pulley.

Not sure what you have now but the 3 bolt Moroso is a nice mandral, bolts directly ro the balancer. they make it in a short and long version. I used one more many years driving a vac pump and mech fuel pump, never had any problems

Star Machine makes about the best one out there. That's what I run on my stuff. I also just got a drive mandrel for a Ron's injection system that I won't be using....came in the kit with everything else....

My first choice is the Jones with the Star as a second choice. The Jones system allows you to add pulleys etc. and adjust them to where they line up perfectly. On my car I have alternator, vacuum pump, mechanical fuel pump and the Jones system was able to make everything work perfectly.

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I got the Aerospace Components one because it is almost identical to the APD mandrel, but was only $120-$150 depending on where you can get one.

Peterson....I run: Alt, dry sump, Alky pump, Vac pump. Zero problems & nut is nice to rotate motor over. (Alt. pulley is Moroso)

Forgetting who sells them for now, two types, bolts through to the crank and bolts to the balancer. Both have their pro's and con's but from life span, I have seen many more break that bolt to the balancer by far vs to the crank. Running an alternator and or vac pump, no big deal, but an oil pump is another story when one breaks on a run!

In any case it's worth mounting the items your driving to achieve the shortest possible mandrel length!

I have run a bolt to the crank type for years with no issues.
