Will a hammertone powder coat chassis (dragster) cert to 6.0? Or did they limit it to 7.50? 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

I looked and could not find anything on the 2.5C chassis spec. If the hammertone is powder coat I don't see why not. I know a chrome plated cage will only go 7.50. To be sure I would contact you local NHRA division office

I checked with the head D2 tech guy and he said no problem. I know at one point NHRA wouldn't cert a hammertone cage..... 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

It seems like I remember hearing a rumor of that rule change several years back. I have a 6.00 cert on our car with hammertone, and its never been mentioned or a problem. Mike Boehner

No scraping of the powder coat. I just had mine done again this past April and I have had the same car since 2005. Never had a problem.

Sorry for the slow response Bender. I don't get on here often enough apparently. To answer your question though, no. No powder coating has ever been scraped off during chassis cert. Mike Boehner
