I just took out a digital 7 and installed a Grid and whenever i turn the ignition on it blows the ten amp fuse in my relay board. This is a K&R relay board and i have chased wires all over the place. Does anyone have any ideas. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with this new Grid.

Put in a larger ampacity fuse……. NO JUST KIDDING.

Remove the red Grid ignition ON wire from the relay board. Turn ignition ON. What happens?

Can you measure +12v at the ignition ON terminal on the board?

I removed the red wire from the relay board and put a new fuze in and all was well so i did some tracing back and found that somehow i had gotten the red ignition wire in behind a ground and tightned it up without noticing it and once i fixed that it was fine but i still can not get it to fire, someone told me that the white (points in) wire has to be hooked up but in my instructions it does not tell you where yo hook it.

I’ll assume you have both a 7730 control and 7720 amplifier (black box) and either a distributor or crank trigger.

The points wire is not used.

In the Setting / General Tab the Ignition Type selected should be Network Ignition.

If you turn the ignition to ON you should see the LED ( next to the USB port) on the 7730 control turn to Green. If Green crank engine and you should see it flashing ON/OFF/ ON if seeing the firing pulse.

If you have this let us know.

The green light does pulse on and off but the plugs are not firing, The ignition stud on the relay board has fire while cranking but the posotive post on the coil is not hot when the switch is on.

You cannot measure voltage at the coil. This CDI ignition, NOT Inductive.

Remove the coil wire at the distributor and put a spark plug in the end of the wire. Ground the spark plug to the chassis with a jumper cable. Turn on ignition and crank. Does it spark??

If no spark. Turn off disconnect and unplug the “small” 4 pin connector from the 7730 to the 7720. Look at the plug with the female pins that have the orange plastic plate. The female pins need to be all the way up against the back of the plate. If Not, pry the plate up with a small screwdriver and pull the pins into the locked position and then replace the plate. Reattach and retry.

Will try this after work tomorrow. I have already tried taking the plug wire off and no spark.

Yes, Spark Output needs to be “Enabled” and is the default setting.
