Opinions on 14* dart head 632 intakes
I am looking for suggestions on the best intake manifold for engine above. At this point I have a Dart intake and the engine only pulls hard to 7000 RPM. I have an APD 1250 carb on it with a 2" Super Sucker. The cam is 284@50* intake, 301@50 ex. and .895 gross lift int., .845 ex. It makes right at 1136 HP@7000, then starts falling off.

Have you looked into Edelbrock part #28002 Big Victor 2 Spread-Port? Just curious, what intake valve is in that 2.400/2.450? You sure you aren't choking it with that 1250? My conventional head 598 and 632 run the 1450 and are spec'd for Q16.
I run the CFE/BMF 385 head.

Talk to Mark Whitner on here. Get some ideas.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure that I don't need a bigger carburetor. I have heard about the Big victor as well. It only has the 2.400 intakes so I am thinking about the manifold first.

Camshafts are cheaper than intake, probably should look at that first. Could probably use more exhaust duration

The Dart intake is not a good choice for your motor. The Eddy Big Vic or Profiler's intake are much better. The more power you make the better the Eddy intake will be. The only con on the Eddy is it's heavy, especially vs the Profiler intake!

The intake needs to go! Your cam is off also, you need an ex lobe around 310 to 312 degrees and a LSA of 116 with that combo. The 1250 carb is fine unless your looking for every bit of power.

another vote for the 28002 Edelbrock , have used it a couple times before on 632 Big Chiefs , works very well

I have a 622 14 degree motor. I just changed to the Big Victor. You will have to do the work to port match it.I also had to mess with the holes on the intake. They didn't match up that well to the heads. It is heavier then the profiler. We will see if it makes a difference next weekend at the fling. I had Frankenstein do the port work. It wasn't cheap.

If you are interested I have the profiler intake i took off and will sell it. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you some pics. Its powder coated black.

I don't know if I agree with needing more duration. I had bullet make me a camshaft and they suggested 286- intake and 304- exhaust. that is at .050. The cam does have a large lift it is .981- intake and .936 exhaust.

Did you have to long gate the intake holes? How much you think they were off?. Just curious. How were the china rails?

Does the same manifold for the 14* fit the 11*? Stupid question probably but curious. PM me the price.

The Eddy intake definitely needs to be port matched, it's cast small on purpose so it can be fitted to any BC style head. No idea WTF Edelbrock has done on the machining side with this intake, early ones were good but since I haven't seen one that bolts up to a set of heads without slotting some of the holes! You will likely have to cut the sides too. It doesn't need a full port though. Port matching should take about 3 to 4 hours max. The Profiler is also a good intake but it was designed with some compromise. I switched from the Profiler to this intake back in 2011 and the car was a good 1.5 MPH faster.

On the cam, the head flow matters but I have never seen a good running BC headed motor that had less than 308 degrees of duration on the EX side.

It will fit the 11 degree as well as the 14 degree and 18 degree.

Don't have the 14* Darts but have the 11* on a 615. Made identical peak power between the Profiler and the Big Victor V1, but the profiler had slightly better bottom end and average power, over the same RPM range (7300) as well. I don't think you're choking it off with a 1250, as we run our stuff with 1150s (Q16) and have tried 1250s with less than 10hp improvement. Our 632 with 18* Brodix and profiler intake makes 1200 and pulls to 7400. As mentioned above, I think cam might be your best bet for initial change then intake, unless you can find a used intake floating out there.

I would be interested in your Profiler intake. Let me know what you want for it. I have no idea how to PM on this site, maybe it's me....

If all you have is 2.400 intake valves in the heads the heads are going to be the big choke. Get the heads right first then fix everything else. The Edelbrock or the Profiler manifolds will work.Get the heads right first.
