Has anyone ever done their own rebuild of one of the early 400gph pumps? I'm wondering what process you used to remove the black Delrin liner to change the seal? Worst case if I break it I can re-make it but would prefer to be able to just pull it and put in a new seal. This is the part I am referring to.

Most of these pumps are make similarly so if you changed it out on another brand it may work on this one. It looks to have rubber around the Delrin part.

Or if you pull out vanes and rotor there will be opening you can gently pry against

Thanks for the answer. I wondered if it was an o-ring. I considered using an internal race puller in the openings but wanted to see if anyone knew how it was assembled first.

As you can see in the first pic I did have the rotor and vanes out.

Putting a seal in it, new bearings in the motor, making new vanes. The wear in the black piece is really superficial. Mostly just surface scratches. Delrin is really a good wear resistant plastic. We machine thousands of pounds of it a year.

This pump came on the car when I bought it in 2005. It has a 2003 year stamp on the motor end and I've never had it apart before. After looking inside it I should have though. LOL Alcohol is tough on stuff.

Looks from picture like that black rubber around delrin may be o-ring.

A good Bearing shop may be able to get your bearings and seals you need. Or Aerospace may sell them.

Getting all those is no problem. Motor bearings will be here today. Yes that was an o-ring. Just didn't want to mess up the Delrin part and have to machine another one if I didn't remove it right. That is all I haven't gotten apart yet. It's in there pretty good. Gonna heat the housing slightly and see if that helps.

Finally got it out. I heated the housing, used some lubricant to seep down around the Delrin piece and I pried on the through holes and used a 7/16" piece through the shaft hole and lightly knocked on it. It was really in there and no way it was coming out without some real persuasion.

I have already bought a new Magnafuel because I have two races on the 12th. We had just finished the 2nd round of our last one then rain plus our last bracket race. I was afraid I couldn't get this one repaired in time. I am still going to rebuild it. Thanks for everyone's help.
