Thinking about going back to a 12v setup . Which battery yall suggest? Michael Frizie ET 2471

Anything AGM with a high CC amperage rating....but why? Cranking speed will slow down, available voltage will drop, and will affect electrical items on the car if you're not running an alternator. Odyssey in my opinion is the best made 12v battery out there. I have had 3 through the years and 7 years was the least I have had one last. I do use Battery Tenders on them when not at the track. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

Unsure on that. Only guess I could make is that someone’s battery cables are currently set up that way and they don’t want to swap things around

I have had very good results with the Optima batteries. For a race car I think one of most important things 12 or 16 volt is to get an AGM type battery. Do not want acid spilling any more than we have to in a crash. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. I have been using an Optima red top for years with no issues. I replace it every 5 years. Last year I switched to an Ultimate Big Dawg 139 from HOP.... best thing I ever did. Billy Duhs - BD104X@gmail.com

The difference between 34 and 34R is the R switches the positive and negative post position for different applications. I use a 34/78 which has an additional side mount screw in terminal for each post. This is an excellent position for terminating the ignition boxes to. My preference is Odyssey, but the XS Extreme looks really good. My last Odyssey lasted 9 years and I gave it to a friend for a trailer winch battery still working. My new 34/78 Odyssey is three years old. I NEVER charge my battery at the track and seldom at home. The battery sits in the car connected for five months during the winter with no charger. In spring it has always checked over 12.65 volts. My experience is that constant charging is not necessary.

An Odyssey pc925 has approx 900 cranking amps for 5 seconds, and are lightweight agm. I ran one in my 68 for years. I have a red top in my S10, but am on #3. Clark

East Penn (Deka)/ NAPA Group 31 About 1000 CCA, 125-ish Reserve, built to withstand big truck vibration and working environment. Slightly larger than an old Group 27. Available in a stud terminal (1131S) if you like to roll that way. High CCA in a small case makes the plates ultra thin, resulting in quicker degradation, they're fragile, and have low reserve capacity. "Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular." Yes Optima are AGM batteries, more specifically, AGM Spiral, due to how they are made... Mark Goulette Owner/Driver of the Livin' The Dream Racing dragster www.livinthedreamracing.com "Speed kills but it's better than going slow!" Authorized Amsoil Retailer

I currently run 2 Optima red top batteries. The resting voltage when fully charged is 12.7v. I use my red tops for 5 years & change them out to put in fresh ones. The ones taken out are usually given away for winch use. The next change out I'm switching to Optima yellow tops for a higher resting voltage of 13.0v - 13.2v. I didn't know this until I watch an Optima video. Below isn't the video it's an Optima blog on the subject. 2BKING https://www.optimabatteries.co...our-battery-voltage! 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3000 lbs. There used to be someone here who always blasted the Optima batteries and said they were junk. For the record I have not had a single problem with the Optima but I have had problem with the 16 volt XS Power battery. One XS Power battery I had a problem with would take a charge but would go dead pretty quickly. At first they did not want to replace it under warranty but they finally did. Soon after sold that car. The other car I have has 2 of the XS Power 16 volt batteries and an alternator so hope there will not be problem with it. All of the Optimas I have had never had a problem. With all that said I have ran Mechanical injection alcohol for over 10 years and alcohol carbs since 1998. I am now going back to Carbs and one of reasons is the car starts so much easier. Starting is the hardest load on the battery. When MFI is right car will start good but never as good as with carb. And sometimes MFI can be a pain to get car started which will quickly kill battery. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability.
