I've been using top lube and scent for about 20 yrs. I've experienced the chalky residue and the gel up. A guy recently told me that he had a cleaner fuel system not using the top lube and scent. I've always been told that you need to run some type of lube with alcohol. What's everyone's view point on using it or not using it?

A capful of klotz every 10-15 gallons. No difference if i use scent or not. Been working for about 10 years now.

Been using this for almost 20 years.

Seems like it is worth it.

No scientific proof, but just took a 540 short block out after 14 years. Same valves in the heads for 20 years.

Doing something right I guess.

I would agree with the guy who told you this based on my personal experience. My fuel system is cleaner with zero additions to the methanol.

When we started racing jr's, I stopped putting any lube in. I haven't seen any problems without it.

Klotz Uplon. No smell as it should be. When I pick up a drum of methanol I add a full quart for the ride home. No residue and always keeps the mfi lubed properly.

I've never used any,my engine builder said he didn't in his own cars. But the scent would be nice sometimes

I ran the Uplon for years. A capful or thereabouts in each five gallon jug. Seemed to work fine but maybe that was my imagination.

I have used Uplon since 2005 when I started running my car. We used Klotz products for many years when I was racing motocross. Top of the line products.

It will not CAUSE any problems and will leave a very light protective film after the alcohol dries to help resist the chalk. There is nothing that I know of that completely stops that though, other than keeping something full of alchohol. I have never had a gel problem ever. I use a quart to a drum and that has been the standard for me always.

Can't comment on the scents. I have never used any.

Curtis

Interesting about quantity used as much as what type of lube. I've seen some use no lube, some use any where from a capfull to 3 capfulls per 5 gal. Others use 1/2 bottle per drum some a full bottle per drum.

I always ran 1/2 qt klotz to a drum when bracket racing. Since switching to TD and a blower I add a full qt to a drum. Reason being I think it really helps keeping the teflon strips in the blower lubed plus it certainly dont hurt the Enderle gear pump and barrel valve either.
