Strange dbl adj Front shocks
Anybody running these on here S5063 67-69 camaro 68-72 nova ,Thinking about buying a pair

I run them on a 71 Camaro. (Different part # obviously but same shock) They are way better than the CE 3 way adjustable that they replaced. Solved the bouncing after a wheelie problem and I was able to slow down the front end extension a little bit. The problem is the valving isn't great for drag cars that can wheelie. I have both knobs at max tight and it's not enough. I want to get them re-valved at some point but haven't got that far yet.

And they were a ***** to install. The lower A-arm needs to be modified to be able to fit the adjuster knobs.

My experience is the same as Talbotracing, the Strange valving is generic, with insufficient control in some situations. I understand about pricing; I'm old, and I often agonize over pricing. Consider this thought: say the difference between Strange and AFCO is $300.00, then consider if the premium shock helped win one race.

AFCOs for the WIN, ask me how I know! Beg, borrow or steal, get the AFCOs or better.

i ran QA1's on my 68 Camaro and they didn't do crap for controlling wheelies, hit the bars hard, running 5.50's. now i have afco's and can keep it from wheeling at all, even removed my sissy sticks. Best shock i ever bought for factory front half car.

Buy once, cry once! No experience with either here but that is exactly why I would call Dave at Competitive Suspension and do whatever he told me to do if I were in your shoes.

I sent my Strange GT Struts to Randy at Fastshocks. Not even close to the same shock. Now they do what they should!

I will add this. I was ready to buy whatever I needed for the rear of this Super Stock car. Randy told me they helped with the valving of the AFCO rears. So I purchased those and set them where he said and they were spot on! AFCO is great stuff!

I would not recommend the BNC unless youre doing sky high wheelies. I had to get the BNCs revalved by Dave @ CS to take some of it away, and they still have too much compression and havent resolved the bounce on my S10. Buy once, cry once... I had afco revalve them initially before Dave.

Mind if I ask which Afco shocks (and springs) you put on your 68 Camaro? And what does it weigh? My 68 has QA1's on the front, (Back-Half Big Block car). 5.8x Hoping to spend the money once and have a better working front end.

Jim,
I'm running a 565 on gas and been 5.46 in good air, i called and talked to Eric @ Afco and got a custom valved big gun shocks 3840F/BNC2 & BNR8.
I'm still running the QA1 front springs, cost me $1075. Best money i ever spent.

I recently got some JRI coilover rears from Dave at CS, great to work with, can't wait to try them. I was on the fence on front, and went with new big springs Landrum paired with Santhuff fronts from Rinehart's, also great to work with. I think ill be happy with both.

So speaking of coil springs, I put 16" 110lb Landrum barrels on the front and 14" Landrum 110lb on the rear. Backs were OK but the front had me a little spooked at 2975lbs. Smile
