I'm thinking of converting to alcohol so I can afford to buy fuel! Mark Goulette Owner/Driver of the Livin' The Dream Racing dragster www.livinthedreamracing.com "Speed kills but it's better than going slow!" Authorized Amsoil Retailer

Mark, after years of reading all the "problems" with Methanol, I forged ahead and try anyway. Now, 8 seasons into the experience, I am happy I did the experiment. Methanol is a good race fuel and for me, the positives far outweigh the negatives. Most of the "problems" turn out to simply be the characteristics of the fuel. And about pricing, with the greater Nort East Texas market, around $140.00 per drum is average. Larry Woodfin

I’ve never used race gas as mine is mfi. They say you use almost 2x the fuel consumption with methanol compared to race gas. So how much does race gas cost and what determines the octane needed?

Mind is a BAD but last weekend at the D4 race I used about 60 gallons, 8 1/4 mile runs and warm ups over the weekend

Industrial isn’t guaranteed to be 99.8 so there is that. I’ve heard guys say the racing version is better so I am going to find out only because I will be getting Renegade at cost which is within $10 of what I am already paying. Personally I don’t expect a difference at all but since I have a friend selling it and he will bring it to me for cost why not? ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

one of our local suppliers got into some issues when they purchased a large volume of reclaimed methanol that had been used in the garment industry.it was sold as pure racing methanol but soon guys where finding small fibers clogging nozzles etc... wasn't good

Mine had soap in it. The oil was so emulsified I had to put a propane heater under the oil pan to get it to drain. It was just a mess. Only sealed drums after that. I still want to go back and try my fuel injection again but this gas carburetor is sure easy. Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right. Here I am.......

As far as the white stuff goes. This is what I experienced. When I had aluminum bowls. I had the white stuff show up pretty quick. I bought a set of the original holley zinc coated bowls, & that cured my issue there. Eventually I got the Holley HP bowls that are anodized. Didnt have a issue with those either.

Let's clear up one thing. Sunoco does not manufacture or sell methanol period! They lease their name and a label for a 5 cent a gallon. You have no idea what someone is putting in the drum or how it was handled. I would never lease out our name unless the product came from us. Thought I would clear that fact up.

DRR Pro |
Clear it all up, what brand is yours? Are you saying dont buy Sunoco methanol? What brand is Sunoco putting their label on? Someone made the fuel? You only shed light on part of the problem you wanted us to hear? Just curious as the Sunoco was the least amount of money here at $140.00 a drum when I paid up to $170.00 for VP and $190.00 for Renegade in the last 4 months.

Chris, are you have still waiting on (irf3) response? I am curious to see the reply to your ?'s.
|
DRR Pro |
Yes sir, waiting on a response.
|
DRR Sportsman |
You're asking irf3 for proprietary info on who manufacturers the methanol used in his fuel. I believe he gets it from the same tap as everyone else. Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer. Just as I am sure no other re-sellers of alcohol want you to know where they get the raw methanol before they add their blends to call it their own. I used to work for him, I cleaned drums, helped off load tankers and delivered the stuff. 72 Nova "Hooptie"
