Well i was suppose to be on the chassis dyno this week for final tune up on the Holley Dominator EFI system but i have a bug in the car. Before i went to the Holley system, i had a Fast EFI box in the car. At that point in time i changed the stator in the converter and took pics before and after to make sure i didn`t put it in backwards. When the tuner started to tune with the Fast system, he couldn't get it to idle right because the system was out dated and it would only go to 2600 RPM on the converter. So at that point i was told to upgrade to the Holley system which i did. My MSD 2 step and rev limiter box were removed since everything goes through the Holley box but kept the MSD 8 box. When the car was at my tuners shop, he set it up with a base tune. He told me that when he turns on the ignition, the MSD box throws a spark. Not when cranking it but just turning on the ignition. It will do it every time. I took the car out of the trailer yesterday just to go over it for the dyno this week and i had it running with no problems until it shut off. I restarted it and it ran for a few seconds and shut off again. At that point you could hear the MSD box continuously throw a spark with the engine off but ignition on. I got it running again and came up on the converter which would only go to 2600 RPM. I`m wondering if it`s the box causing this problem. I`m going to pull the trans next weekend and open the converter. I probably will upgrade to a MSD 8 digital while i`m at it. Anybody every come across this type of problem with the MSD box. I hate to call MSD because of the answer i might get but it could be entertaining.

I tried a MSD 8 and didn't like it - took it off.

I'd recommend a MSD Grid - I use it with 20lbs boost and many others with more boost. And yes my setup is the Holley EFI triggering the MSD ignition with the white points wire.

I only tried it for a couple of runs and it was rough on the 2-step and the car didn't shift.

I was on EFI at that time and some controls were in EFI and some in the MSD 8. I felt the issue was more of a comparability / wiring with EFI deal not the 8 box itself.
