Reusing a stick on oil pan heat pad??
Anyone removed a stick on heat pad from an oil pan and reused it? Pad came off clean just wondered what would be good to use to stick it on again. Anyone done it?

Just use Ultra Black. We use it on the heater pads on some of our products. Resists oils and handles the heat well. A thin complete layer on the pad. Try not to get any air bubbles or you will get hot spots where they are.

Wasn't sure how the RTV would work. I sealed around the edges with high temp red when I stuck it on the pan originally as they said if it peeled or lifted it could burn out from a hot spot as it needed to stay in contact.

Yep, hot spots will burn out. Our 12v pads get about 340° so we work hard to have complete contact of pad. At least where the resistance wire is inside it.

They originally came with an adhesive on them right?

Yes, mine is a Kat's and had adhesive. I need to look at the rating on it, could probably use a bigger one. The RTV doesn't form a layer between the pad and the pan? I would have thought it might block some of the heat. I saw on other forums, not racing, people used spray adhesive.

I wouldn't try silicone. Some 3-M "Brown Death" might stick it well enough?
I had one I would liked to have re-used but chose to replace it with a magnetic heater instead.

What Goob said I tried to do a glue over just gave in and did the magnet thing and got rid of a worry.
