So took the car out for the first time this season. track was very green. Nothing really done to the car since last year except had Dave Connelly revalve the front afco shocks. First hit the car went up on bumper, usually only lifts the front about 1.5ft and carries them to about the 60ft. Car also went pretty hard right, so I lifted and car came down nice and soft. 1.24 60ft Came back and adjusted the rebound, and this time car only lifted the front about 6inches but still wanted to go right. Last year at the last money race looking at my log I did make a 4link adjustment because that track was pulling everyone left. Car was deadly thou and only was varying a few thousands in the 60ft. So I decided to put the 4 link back to where it was. Car got better and went 1.24X 60ft, 5.65@127MPH for two passes. Still wanting to go right. Others with 6.teens cars I know race all over were also going right so I did not want to screw with the car anymore. Or for that matter beat on it. I did buy a new APD carb that was never bolted onto the car. So I threw that on, adjusted the idle and went out for a hit to see how it compared. Car went Exactly the same 1.24 60ft, 5.65 @ 127MPH. Loaded the car and bought it home. Looking at the videos it did appear the passengers rear was dipping lower on launch. Two years ago the bolt did shear on the right side and I drilled it out and put in a 3/8 bolt. So when I got home I put the car on the lift and we disconnected the anti- roll. The bolt checked out, but I did notice pulling it apart the passengers link in about 3/8" shorter than the left. When I got the bolt out and measured frame to lower shock mount bolt they were identical side to side, and from bolt to the ground they were identical. So that link was short by 3/8inch. I also felt a hair of play in the rod end ball - so I ordered new ones. Here is my question. I always adjust neutral with everything hanging. Its way easier to access at the track with the rear wheels off and its a known starting point. My plan is to reinstall with the anti-roll at neutral because that to me explains why the car was going right on the marginal track (literally most of the track had bare spots and walking it had zero stick). A lot of the car could not get off the line. It also explains why the passengers side rear was dipping. Thoughts. Configuration: 3350#, 582 C.I., 60 - 1.24 1/8 - 5.53@ 126MPH 1/4 - 8.73@ 159MPH 3700#+210lb driver, FULL interior, through mufflers, 10.5 tire. 60'-1.333 (IN 4000ft DA! Joisy Math excluded; 1.25sec using JOISY MATH.) 1/4 - 9.60@144MPH | ||
