So what's everyone like to set their door car front tire toe in at? I always had my dragster at 1/4 inch total, 1/8th per side and it drove perfectly straight at 230 plus MPH

With suspended front be sure to check toe in through out the range of suspension travel. Bump steer is an issue with many cars even good racing strut suspension sometimes. Also note often your front end will be up a few inches higher under full throttle at finish line and I want it handling best at high speed and not as concerned on starting line. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. Okay, new Flaming river rack installed with new tube adapters welded to to the tie rods. New left front tire, both front tires squared to the frame rails, rack and steering wheel set dead center, toe in set to 1/8th total at 1 inch lift. Hopefully this thing drives straight

What about bump steer? On my old Camaro the front end was up several inches higher than ride height even at finish line. At finish line speeds I want toe in perfect. May not be the same as sitting ride height and at speed is more important. Someone tried to tell me one time that a strut front can not have bump steer. Not true it sure can. I literally spent days working on my altered to limit bump steer as much as possible. Checking it at all ride heights and then making spacers, raising and lowering tie rod ends and adjusting it. Was able to get it much better but the way they did mine it will never be perfect with out making major changes. On the strut springs I lowered springs as much as possible and set weights on front end so where it was almost bottomed. Then made a lever deal so I could raise it and lower front end. Measured it at lowest point, raised it up and put a block under it and measured it again. The results were surprising it had more bump steer than I expected. So struts definitely can have bump steer and I want to know where it is when front end is up under full throttle and where it is when nose dives under hard braking. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. Well I decided to do exactly what I told MarkMark I would not do and that is run it without the nose. Took it out today to see if it would go straight and it did, the shocker was it went 5.090 @ 135.6 Thats 7 hun and almost 2 mph quicker than it has ever gone ![]() Maybe I should just leave to nose off for good ![]() I guess now I need to enter the double bracket race at the Motorplex next weekend ![]()

Excellent work Steve. Doubt the lack of weight from the nose removed spead it up, but possibly the fresh air. Too bad you couldn’t get all the pieces from the damaged nose back, piece it together and put a scoop on it just to try. Doesn’t have to be pretty. Me, load it up and go racing minus the nose. Seems running without the hood on is becoming more popular. You could start a new trend.

Yea everyone in the lanes were curious on why I did not have the nose. You right, lots of cars without a hood these days. The entire nose with hood only weighs like 30lbs or so, so that's certainly not enough to pick up 7 hun

Was that launching full ignition advance or Launch Retard? Rear body height looks neutral leaving the line. Nice.

34* timing, no retard. 60ft was within .003 of what it ran 2 weeks ago, picked up .050 to the 330 and .020 from 330 to stripe. I did not see this coming at all

It was nice but to be honest I never turned on the weather station. I was only concerned about if the car would go straight or not. The place was packed, after that run I loaded up and went home, didnt see no need to sit in the lanes for 2 hours when I already got the info I came to get. BTW, congrats on Wally #2 of the year ![]()

So I am assuming it had not been going straight and now it does? What all did you change? From sound of it you were acting like it would put you out for season but you are right back in it now. That is good. Yes, track was packed and running slow yesterday. Glad your truck is running straight and better now. Really looked good there. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability.
