I have, for that application I would highly recommend "Spanky" with WILSON Race Engines.

I'm with Torqin on this. Chris Wilson has as good of handle on the alcohol stuff and anyone right now. Taylor has been doing it a long time, but I recommend Spanky also.

I've bought a lot of stuff from TRE over the years. Attention to detail wasn't the best but he had killer pricing and we built the stuff here anyway. Never bought anything complete. I'd say if you've got the money, go to Spanky. If you're trying to save money, go to TRE. It's hard to touch his pricing.

3.5 years ago, started in the dyno room during testing.

Yep, I lost parts from an aluminum 632 sr20 motor in that fire. A couple of months later, he had everything replaced. I don’t even know if he had insurance money at that point but he took care of it anyway.

I've contacted: Sunset, Reher Morrison, Wilson, TRE. They all have a different spin on things...all are willing to work w/ me but based on their comments and recommendations I'm more confused on what to do more than I ever was! Didn't think of that

Chris surprised me the most w/ his recommendation, His take is to stay w/ 383MC HH and go w/ alum. block to make my ride alittle faster.....he has a point....Spreadport change will add about 50 lbs. to my TANK. (2720# as is)
For those tuning in to my discussion....I'm looking to build a 632 Spreadport motor for next season that will be alittle faster than my last 383MC HH / 632 which ran 7.90's...an of course, A.C.A.P. (as cheap as possible)

Not a fan of aluminum blocks for established builds, $3000-4000 to save around 100 lbs and in all likelihood make slightly less power.

I have a TRE 434" 23* motor. I did not buy it directly from TRE, but it was brand new and dyno time only when I got it. Makes killer power. This was built for NOS...its quick on motor only (unusual) and stupid fast on Spray...still don't have a converter that holds it.

I will say that I tried calling them a few times before and after I bought it...they don't return calls, they don't have files, and they acted like they really didn't want to give me the few minutes of time I asked for to get more info on the motor.

I got my heads from Mike at Island Racing, he works with RFD. Mike has always helped me and answered any of my questions. I have been happy with the performance too.

Richie,

Personal opinion, Joe and the guys at Sunset have been stand up people and also Alan and all the guys at Scoggin-Di-ckey. Both shops have helped a lot of people in our area. I wouldn't hesitate to use either. Good luck!

There's a BUNCH of good engine builders. I'd go with the closest reputable one.

I used to be a people person, but people ruined that.
