My almost new 16v battery acting stupid. Normally holds charge pretty good cranks butt load of times, Today had solenoid hang once and since then been dud duding lot. Figured solenoid. Battery charger connected charges rel slow when at 19v disconnect and drops back to 16-- to 17.0 at best. Battery charger and voltmeter reading same numbers so doubt charger. When reading amps starts at zero creeps up, Thinking last number saw when on volts was lil over 5. Guessing dead cell. Junk battery or something else I have not checked or not mentioned? I have had 2 out of the 3 of the 16 volt that I bought go bad in less than one year. One of them I think was about 4 months. They tried to give me run around saying I was not using right charger so no warranty. I provided receipt for both battery and their charger. Then after several months of messing around with them they finally said for me to send it in and they would check it out. Then they said no warranty it had just expired a few weeks earlier. I told them no I have been having problems all along and they were ones stalling. Finally they did replace it. The other one that went bad was bought on Amazon so got it replaced pretty quickly with no problem. Like many others here I have went back to 12 volt on my car. Problem on my car is simply no place to put an alternator. On other car I work I put two of the 16 volt batteries and an alternator. Some people hate them but I have had very good results from the red top Optima batteries. I do think running an alternator and keeping a small trickle charger on any battery is huge in making them last. Never let them get too low or overcharged. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. The only 16v battery I had go bad in less than 2 seasons was the original Rock battery. Since I switched to XS never had any problems, I swap them after 4 seasons just as a maintenance item. Never had an alternator until my current PST

Bought end of 23,on;y out 5 times in 24 due to whole in foot and trying to keep toe. Maybe 2 outtings in 23. Sat in trailer all winter and had charger on low few times just to keep up was necer really low. Second one bqad. First one went few years although very littl run time lots of playing with in driveway and abusing it,probably worst than if at race. Think I am done with them. Hell 350 plus no damn warranty.Hell my car very low draw on battery except cranking a few electrical pieces, No pumps, one small fan, intruments and data logger. America home of free. XS, five years old. I use their battery charger/tender. I'm probably not supposed to do this but I never turned it off, except when I'm running the car. It holds steady at 18.0 volts with a 5 amp charge. Bob

If 12v is doable I think they require less maintenance attention and last longer. Late last November I changed oil, removed methanol from injection system and filled with 93 octane, started engine and ran to full hot. Loaded car in the trailer and it’s been sitting in the garage that’s 38* inside this morning. I just checked this 3.5 yr old Odyssey battery, and it reads 12.76v. I probably charged this battery 2x at most last year when I was working on the electrical system for an extended period of time. The prior 12v Odyssey was 9 yrs old and still working, but did crank slightly slower than the brand new one.

Up date. Guess I owe 16v appoligee. Seems solenoid has a short or something that is draining power. I did stick engaged twice . Bought new 12v today. Thought hell easier to swap.3year warranty, can rotate new one in use on trailer of vehicle,100 less and 14 lbs less(I have weight hatred issue). Connected same crap. Said hell solenoid, installed old one. spun ass of with plugs in. Swapped ion 16 after boosting and spun like crazy. Then had timming issue and hard as hell cranking and stress test the hell out of 16v. Hated to loose weith savings but need the cash back so red top back to advance. With closeness of Peidmont and Farmington I can run couple weekends and get some seat time.Maybe. As B King said not time to chat got to get this junk ready toi go beat on it tomorrow at track.Got mess to pack and grab few hours nap. America home of free. Brought to you by 2nd amendment.
