Mark Williams Rotor with Weld Deltas
How many of you have the standard size M/W rotor with 4" back space Deltas?Travis said I may want to go with the rotor designed for 15" beadlocks which I believe he said was 11 3/8 and the standard is 11 3/4.

I have std MW brakes and just had my wheels beadlocked by Dewzen....16" Weld 2.0 wheeels...

There is very little clearance from the inner beadlock ring to the brake caliper. I didn't measure it but it's not a lot....

Have had no issues running it and tested it on jackstands and around the pits.

I assume clearance is why he might have suggested different rotors but the calipers are what's close.....The caliper mounting brackets would need to be replaced to move them away from the beadlock ring along with the smaller OD rotors...

the Delta's will hit the caliper without a 1/4" spacer. I use MW spacers.

That said, I also have MW's 11 3/8" rotor kit which includes hats, modified calipers and pads on my Firebird with Weld's Alpha-1 wheels.

You just have to to sand the sharp edges off the calipers....they barely hit enough to take the anodizing off...then no spacer is needed..been running them since DELTAS came out until I switched to TBM with zero problems....but then you have to get the weight in right place or calipers will knock it off...

Thanks, I would rather run a 1/4 spacer as opposed to grinding on a brand new set of calipers. I also have dual calipers with foot and handbrake.

Does the 11 3/8 rotor kit with calipers use a different pad? What is the difference in the calipers and pads?

same pad but modified. The entire brake kit is 3/8" smaller not just the rotor. The caliper bracket is also shorter which moves the caliper 3/8" closer to the hat and therefore the need to modify the pads.

FYI, for those wanting to run a 15" bead lock wheel, often times the caliper doesn't clear the beadlock. Be advised that Mark Williams sells a rear brake kit #71290 that is the fix providing you have no less than 13 1/4" diameter on the backside of the wheel measuring across the wheel from bead lock to bead lock. This rear brake kit comes complete with rotors/hats, calipers, caliper brackets and pads. The rotors measure 11 3/8" diameter instead of MW's standard 11 3/4", the caliper/axle retention brackets are 3/8" smaller/shorter and the calipers and brake pads are clearance too.

Thanks Ed,If I can just add a 1/4 spacer and keep the larger rotor that would be my choice over the smaller modified kit. I would guess that was your thoughts as well on your dragster?

yes but there's no loss in brake performance with the smaller rotor kit, just a big difference in price, $1300 compared to $70 for the spacers.

I use 4” bs deltas and mark Williams rotors and calipers, no issues. I didn’t have to grind or clearance anything. No spacers either, i do believe they are the smaller rotors

I was right the opposite I’m not running a spacer to each their on...you would not even be able to tell that mine had been touched..

I'd touch the caliper up as well, I wouldn't run a spacer either.

Way better drag racing idea.

I feel the same way. I'll either run the spacer or the smaller rotor kit.

I have 5" backspaced Deltas on every dragster...all have 1/4 inch aluminum spacers from Smileys for $9.99 each
...20 buck solved my issues without grinding on all 4 dragsters.

Grooved one wheel on inside of one car as I tried to move it after putting wheels on...no problems after the spacers.

The combination of 5" backspacing wheels and bubba tires made loading cars side by side in trailer quite easy as way more room it seems.

$10 Chinese cast spacers Shake head not on my cars. I’ll pay $70 all day long for MW billet spacers made from the same material as their rotor hats.

That said, combination of my 4” bs Delta wheels with 1/4” spacers and Hoosier BR3 works on the track and in the trailer.

If they are making their hats from 7075 I need to find out their aluminum supplier because they are getting it super cheap.
