Water pump to drain block
Is there an electric water pump to pull water from a block. I see small pumps with a garden hose hookup to act as a temporary sump pump, anyone ever used one on an engine or have a better idea?

Open block lower drain and put some air pressure in up top.
Pump it dry in no time.

I use a wet vac.

I've been draining from the block drains and it's become a PIA. The right side is no big deal, after the diaper is out of the way. The left side requires taking the plugs out and sliding the header back as far as possible so I can get enough access to pull the drain out. Then the water hits the header and runs along the primaries and drops off the collector. I'm hoping someone has a slick way to do this. I'm trying to come up with a way to extend the drain so I can flip a ball valve without having to go under it at all. The left side header almost hits the head of the block drain when it's bolted up.

Through a head bolt hole? Just make a restriction to fit in the vacuum hose to reduce it to a piece of 7/16 Neoprene?? Brilliant.

I had one in the shop a while back that installed 90* brass fittings into drains on block. Then threaded brass pipes into those, and had all that oriented to run to the front of block at the pan/timing cover area. Pipes were parallel to pan rails and actually came out front of diaper with drain valves installed so he can drain block without removing the diaper. Bottom of motor plate was notched for clearance. I should have gotten a picture because it was pretty neat.

I've put -6 fittings in the block and made a short hoses with a 45 on the block end and a capped straight fitting at the bottom

I did the same as Denis. Short hoses that are capped off, seems to work just fine.

Thanks for the ideas, I think running to the front will be my plan of attack. Maybe long nipples with a standoff from the pan rail or some hose. Keeping it above the diaper sounds great.

Looks like I'll be doing the same as Denis because I have OEM motor mounts and the block drain on the left side is about an inch from the mount.
