s-10 rear springs?
Im at the point on my current build that information on the optimal set up for the rear leaf springs. The truck came with the heavy duty springs, 3 leafs and one very short thick leaf. This was a DOT work truck, (very ugly yellow one at that). I'm swapping in an 8.8 narrowed Ford, spool, 4.10 gears to start and will be running the
10.5x28 MT. PG, 1.80 and foot braking behind a 550/600 hp 383 Chevy (what else?). Idea's? Suggestions?

Already have the Caltracts. What about the number of leafs? Should I leave it as is or take out the hd healer spring? What do you have on yours?

CalTrac offers a split monoleaf design that I would recommend.

They are naturally de-arched with a soft rear leaf to help with ride height. The front leaf is fairly solid and will also aid with wheel hop prevention.

You can take out leafs to get the ride height and spring stiffness right but you may run into high speed stability issues with the lack of rigidity in the spring. Personally I would invest in spring sliders, they drop the truck another another .5" and make the rearend much stiffer laterally.

I actually have the original leaf springs on mine, with 3 leaves in the pack.

I don't know what to think of them. A racer buddy of mine who watches me launch claims my truck does not roll, pitch, squat or rise up upon launch.

"It just leaves", he says.

Of course my average ET is only about 11.90 in the quarter, so my horsepower is unremarkable.
