I'm going to assume EZ Plate is no longer in business as I've called and left a couple of messages and have not received a call back. I need to slow my car down about 2 seconds if possible. Will the ET Genie do this? David Deming 1974 Chevy Nova Custom Hatchback Horsepower Innovations E85 Carb

Slowing down 2 seconds is probably not going to work well with anything. Maybe a 2 barrel carb. Slowing down .2 seconds is no problem.

I slowed my car from low 5.70 to 6.50 last month. I added 85lbs, put in a 1.031 hole plate and shifted at 5000 from a norm of 6800. There is no way just taking air away will do it. Looking at my o2 it was leaning out quite a bit also. If you want to slow 2 seconds expect to add a BUNCH of weight to do it. My car also reacted much slower with the plate and weight in it. Fortunately being a roadster it still reacts fairly quick so it was easy to get a spot on the tree. I've never tried to slow my car down, and it looks like it will be more difficult to do than I thought. The reason I was trying to slow it down is because my 17 year old son is interested in running my car. While he's driven the car before, he's never been down the track. I'm thinking I'll just have him leave off of the foot brake and run 1/8 mile to start and slowly work into it. David Deming 1974 Chevy Nova Custom Hatchback Horsepower Innovations E85 Carb

Leaving in high gear will kill quite a bit and slow it down. It will still be fast to someone not used to it but nothing like leaving in low. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

It is difficult, who would think ......When my kid started racing I had the same problem. I did take a 10.30 car and slow it down to 12.0 with the EZ plate and it was pretty decent too. I have an EZ plate you can borrow if you'd like, I have a ton of plates too, both 4150 and 4500. You can see what plate size slows you down enough and just make one out of aluminum.

I appreciate the offer. I'm not sure it would get here before next weekend when I would be wanting it. I'm keeping my eye open for a restrictor plate system. Until then, I'll improvise by having him leave in high gear or something. Thanks again for the generous gesture! David Deming 1974 Chevy Nova Custom Hatchback Horsepower Innovations E85 Carb

Anyone use a Willy's restrictor plate. I bought one, havn't run the car with it yet. I'm trying to slow down a 2800# Vega with a 532 ci BBC. Car should go 8.60 1/4 mile wide open, want to slow it down to about 9.50.

Ziggy, Not sure you will be able to slow it up that much with a Willy's. I would look into the ET Genie restriction system. Rob Robertson

I tried a Willys plate on my street/strip Camaro. Low 11 second car. Got it to slow down to 11.60, but car became very inconsistent. Open the restrictor back to 100% open, car repeated with .01. Not sure why it made it i consistent, but I'm guessing the restrictor played havoc with the air signal. Ended it up sending it back
