dragster shifter info
We are refurbing an older hard tail for a young man. We purchased a Biondo Outlaw shifter, it looked like it would fit in the space the best, Shifter that is installed is a rear exit quarter stick and the cable mount is near rear motor plate,(cable front entrance-trans) shift lever down on trans. This new shifter calls to run shift lever up and run cable all the way around back of trans. Can this shifter run to front of trans and operate with shifter lever down without to much trouble? I looked around at the track and about 3/4 of the cars run with shift cable attached to the motor plate.(front entrance to the trans)

Sounds like a reverse valve body shifter.

Run shifter through the gears and note which direction cable moves. Compare to transmission and you will have your answer.

You should be fine running with the way the cable is set up now (coming in from front side) with the lever facing down. That's the point of the reversible lever arm on the trans. Mine loops around behind the motor and comes in from the rear and the lever is in the up position. It's however you can fit it best is all really.
