Computech DataMaxx
I was thinking about buying a DataMaxx over a Racepak. The "MAIN" reason is I own a Daytona Wego o2 pack and it hooks up painless. Whereas a Racepak I need to buy all sort of stuff.

Anyone have the DataMaxx? Likes or Dislikes??

Thanks!

I have a Datamaxx. I am thinking about switching to a Racepak. I like the fact Racepak can be set up to start by RPM. Data-maxx you have to flip a switch. I typically forget to flip the switch.

Also, seems like Raepak is the industry standard.

So you have to flip the switch to start recording? That sucks! Even the RPM I had used RPM.

If you talking about an RPM data logger, you still have to flip a switch to enable the record function, then you have a engine/Driveshaft RPM setpoint to start recording. I have been using a RPM logger for 15 years and it has always been that way.
I run an SLE, I have a relay wired parallel to the SLE button on the steering wheel, once the top bulb is on I push the button and both the SLE and data logger is enabled so I never miss a recording

Your right, I did flip a switch. I was thinking something different.

I don’t see the switch being a big deal. I roll to prestage and flip it then. It’s just part of my routine now.

I can’t give any opinion on the Datamax but I would think it would be decent. It’s been around for a long time.

I just read an old post on Class Racer where you mentioned you have a dual Wego hooked to your RPM? Or are you using the RPM o2s?

Have you looked at or considered an ECU? Can do it all and more.

This has been a huge discussion as of late. I have racepak sportsman and fuel tech FT550 experience. Removable data storage is a big thing for me. I have one laptop for my weather station and data logging. Id much rather bring an SD card into the motorhome vs unplugging my laptop and weather station to bring it out to the car.

Chad I do have a dual Wego o2 but it's what Randy used to sell from RPM. I didn't add it separately, I bought it from him.

Same for me but I run a cable from my laptop out to my car.

I have. I just need to make sure whatever ignition, data logger, or ECU is on the approved list. Most companies have one for this without all the features.

Now that's pretty slick. Id searched for something similar in the past with no luck

To easily trigger the record start without a transbrake, one could use the line lock output.

My buddy Danny uses the computech in his alky funny car. Has the dash for it too. He loves it, works well for him.

Racepak is the "standard" in today's world IMO. Everyone has the software, everyone knows how to read the files, and the files can be shared pretty easily with tuners, etc. So are you the only one looking at it? Are you sending files to someone else? If so what do they use? I have guys that got away from racepak for their application, others left computech or fuel tech or whomever to go to racepak.

Racepak, is it the best? Have no idea. Insert which tire should I run, and the same answers apply.

I'm all about simple is better. I was looking at the DataMaxx because 3 wires to the logger and the Wego is hooked up.

Not doing that with the Racepak.

If your wego is 0-5v output you can use the racepak 0-5v vnet module. Greg Kelley @ MotorSports innovations should be able to get you setup with what you need.
