I've never rebuilt a hydraulic jack before but it seemed very easy after watch some youtube videos, so I went for it. The whole process was pretty easy to do on my very old 1.5 ton Sears jack. It would go up but not stay up and that was with no load. After my rebuild attempt, it won't even go up. I was very careful to ut it back together the way it came apart. I even measured the steel balls to make sure they were the same size as the originals and they were the same. I tried to bleed by watching for air in the hole in the resevoir, but I'm not sure where the ram should be when bleeding. I took it all apart this morning and watched as I moved the plunger and it all looks right to me. Maybe it takes longer to bleed than I think it should. I'm trying to avoid buying a jack from HF. Any advice???

Your positive the lips on the seals are facing the correct direction?

Yeah, we got it. I just wasn't bleeding it correctly or long enough. It suddenly started working.
