My car is a 4.40 car, and i currently have a 1.80 bte planet that is from 2005 that i took on trade. It had a couple bad gears in it, i replaced the gears that were bad and put it in mine and still running it. I believe i have around 150 passes on it and still going and not making metal. The kicker is, i own a transmission shop, and carry a spare, so not that big of a deal if i bust something. But, I do tell customers to replace as much your wallet can afford when things start looking bad. Also, have the trans gone through every 200-300 passes. If all is well, you re use all the clutches and band, and just put a seal kit in it. When a glide is working as it should, and dont lose pressure, it takes along time to wear the clutches and band.

1000 easy on our BTE 1.80 in 4.70-4.90 dragster. I agree that u-joints and rod ends on the suspension would likely need service first.

I have no clue how many runs are on my gearset. Several hundred from me, but I was given it and it was well used when I got it. Only thing I've done is replaced the bearings/thrust washers.....running 4.30's and faster at sea level, tic slower on the mountain....I pull the trans apart every season to inspect...nothing in the pan or anything yet
