Mine is the GZ Motorsports, have had it for about 5 years and it still pulls over 17 inches of vacuum on my car. I have not had it rebuilt or anything no need to right now. As much as I like the GZ pump I would use the Jones lower mandrel. Much better in my opinion.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I have a Star. It is small and pulls good vacuum. The Star mandrel is nice, but mine broke (most likely my own fault) and I now have a Jones mandrel.

Star Pump and mandrel on my car and the guys I race with! One friend had his mandrel break off, and when he took it back to Star they said his was an early design. The new mandrel is made out of a different aluminum alloy and is no longer machined hollow on the dampener side. He still had to pay for it though!

Star sportsman pump and drive mandrel is probably a Moroso I made up some spacers for it to fit....gilmer belt drive.

5 years old at least and works fine. Needs to be kept clean and dry of oil....

Very easy to check and clean....

If you decide to go with a MOROSO brand vacuum pump take a look at our cylinder head mounting brackets. They allow a 360 degree rotation of the pump itself. Perfect for plumbing.

We have them for the original design and enhanced design MOROSO pumps. Available in chrome and black. Custom Pulleys also for v-belts.

Available from JEGS or Summit or directly from us at www.DragRaceSolutions.com
