Boucher JrNa... Its a bogus thread, nobodys so pitiful they need to seek out the internet on how to smoke the tires.

Jerry KatheI use it to get it up on the tire, then immediately release it and just use the throttle. I just switched over to the 3190s this winter, so that may change once I get out to try them as I doubt they will grow as much during the burnout.

The Sissy starting line enhancers make the leave and trans temp consistent especially when you are spotting 2 seconds.

Particularly important when trying to consistently build boost.....I've heard.

Blake4128I noticed in Vegas a certain 2 time Million Dollar Race winner was using a rev limiter on the burnout in the dragster he drove and recall seeing Jeg use one in his dragster. Makes me wonder if more people shouldn't think about using them.

Watch when he does the BO in the Bird. Solidly on the 3-step limit the majority of the time, but does a short BO with it. You can see flames coming out of the exhaust under the car if you’re viewing from the 60’ cone.

BuckyFollowing up from another thread: Any correlation to be found between 3 step use and burnout tire shake in dragsters? Mine never shakes, and I do use the three step button. Just wondering what others have found.

Many world champs dont use it (starting line enhancers)...AND they step on the throttle before the top bulb comes on, EVEN with a 2 second spot...some of them Champions are trans builders too that ran pro chargers winning TD world championships...
When they take the gas pedal from me I quit...JMO

If you need the chip in the burnout by all means use it...some simply dont need it and M/T tires help that situation too...

I'm not using a procharger.

Apparently that would be too easy.

to limit or not to limit,i dont think it really makes a **** as long as your rpm is where you want it.i used to use only my foot.then used 3 step and had problems i blamed on 3 step.so i went back to my foot.after some time i went back to three step mostly, sometimes never gets to chip, sometimes ride it.so just like with tires (lol) whatever floats your boat

I simply asked a question about the rash of burnout shake comments and whether there is a connection with not using the three step. If you want to show off your talents in the burnout, terrific! But that's not what I was asking.

I don't see '3-Step' or 'no 3-Step' as a factor as much as the RPM that you have your 3-Step set to, or move your foot to. Along with track prep, tire choice, tire pressure, etc etc etc.

TORQINBucky, you too can show off your talents too (we all have some but little required) or you can keep riding the chip...and yes sir the chip can effect shake in the burn out process especially if it's too low in rpm.
Observation of use of the chip seems and certainly sounds abusive in the burnout...watch the reher Morrison video of the valve train while on the chip...no chip for me, not needed and clearly the video does not lie of how abusive it is...
Truth is you can win either way.
..its your choice.

My wife’s first year driving the car didn’t have an enhancer. If she gave a car a 2 second spot and floored it when the top bulb came on her car would pick up .02 or .03 every time. So we learned that a consistent amount of time on the 2 step is very important.
June 06, 2019, 09:37 AM
TORQINThat very well be for that car...simply does not hold water on many fronts on many other cars.
Many many successful racers do not use the starting line enhancers...their cars dont fall off on longer spots as you and others state in posts.
Just weekly observations...to each their own.
