Since it comes up from time to time about how to find leaks in the crankcase if you can't pull enough vacuum or you are pulling oil out I thought I would post a tool I bought. There are cheap smoke machines on eBay now. Check these out. I got one and it works pretty good. Uses mineral oil to produce the smoke and it smells kinda bad. I'm going to try and add some of the oils my wife has to make the house smell good in and see if that helps. It has already found a few small leaks for me. The only think I might change is the pressure regulator. Sorry if this has been posted before and I missed it.

Been doing this for years and it is amazing where you will find some leaks. Good advise.

We use a portable one that uses baby oil.

I have that exact smoke machine. Simple, cheap and effective. I smoke test every motor I build before dyno.

I built one very similar to the one shown and used incense to produce smoke. It didn't work. I guess it wasn't making enough smoke cause I could never see any.
