Procharger For Bracket Racing?

Anybody successfully using a Procharger for Bracket Racing? I know Top Dragster seems to have a good number of them.

I'm thinking about converting one of my 434 SBC Bracket Camaros over to one. I'm looking to run around high 8s in the 1/4.

I talked with a tech rep at Procharger this morning, but I would like to hear from people using them or people who know other's using them for Bracket Racing.

ive got a friend running one in super pro in his mike bos dragster..think he is running 7 or 8 lbs of boost and that thing repeats round after round.just putters on down the track dead on every pass

I have a f1r on my 540 and will say the car is deadly the only disadvantage i feel is dialing blind day to day the car seems to be affect more by large weather changes. my dragster has been 4.2s on 9 lbs of boost

Man if I only knew then. If I were to start over right now building my car there is no way I wouldn't run a blown car bracket racing. Procharger or roots either one. The speed per dollar is a bargain once you start going faster and faster. Doesn't answer your question but we have another car we are working on that will be Procharged.

Thanks for the replies & Curtis I've came to your same conclusion. I've been heavily researching since making this thread & I'm still not done.

The plan is to update my 80 Camaro from a roll bar to 8.50 cert cage & freshen/change over the current 434 for the pro charger.

Our 68 Camaro, the motor is out getting fixed/freshened. When I get that back on the track & for sale. I can start working on the 80.

I would think roots would be cheaper too.It would seem intakes and drives for bbc would be fairly cheap.

You fellas are bad influence. Here I have been trying to not build with a blower and all of you talking how great they are for brackets,but then most of you have more self control. I know me and th od would be way above practicle,but hey my pulley combos start at 45% and go up,so would not be my fault.LOL

Question I have. Is how many runs on blower with Teflon stripped rotor before restripping with low OD's.I know our old high helix stuff was stripped every 4 or 5 runs but that was 54 to 64% over.

Really bad part s all I would need is another blower since I sold my whipple cpl years ago. Everything else is sitting here.Would love a new nostalgia race 6-71.I know cpl guys are getting 42 lbs boost out of them.

How much is blower changing converter,figure no way around having rebuilt or total new one.

I personally would not run a stripped blower for a bracket race combo. The strips wearing would cause the boost to be inconsistent plus create a unneeded maintenance item. Most bracket combos are only running 10-15 pounds boost max so its just not needed.

I'd do a PSI blower...no strips to wear out.....and legal for most classes....

Just a FYI. I run a TBS 8.71 Hi Helix Retro it is stripped (18) and I generally re-strip it every 2 years. In fact I have it down now and I am re-stripping it. I set the clearance at .004 - .005 when new. Checking it prior to tear down it was at .010.
My last race weekend it ran 4 back to back 4.38 ET before I fell asleep on the line but it still ran dead on.
In my opinion the only thing wrong with a stripped blower is sending it out to be re-stripped.
I have the ability to do everything myself so it's not an issue..
Pulling the new Teflon strips through the grooves is a real pain in the rear and you need some real good leather gloves to keep from getting sliced and diced.

Wide, I don't think I would do anything smaller than an 8.71 on that hemi otherwise you will be spinning it like a screw..lol

my 10-71 psi I re stripped at 170 passes and it was still maintaining 22lbs of boost and very consistent.

A 8-71 would be illegal for nostalgia if I wanted to run. Plus the new nostalgia stuff is bad ass.Making over 45# with a six and thats around 50% od.

Plus I know was joke,but you can not spin a 6 at 120%.Fall off flow curve and probably kill itself. LOL

Are you talking .004 stripping to case? we use to run zero(not negative) and with .005 or more it was junk.Understand you same deal.Just a FYI thing,in case you might need info in future. I am sure it last longer and more consistent flow and if not balls to the wall setup.

If I was going PSI I would look around for a used whipple. Lot more blower. Whipple makes same power at 50% as PSI at 120%.Now if need certification you are screwed with Whipple. Oh yea lite weight is out at 140#. Damn I loved that blower. With a screwed up tune up it was 5.60 combo off trailer. Thats why I sold the one I had.I know my limitation and behaving is outside of it.LMAO
