Why is it when racing tires arrive at the front door it’s like opening Pandoras box. I would expect that a company that specializes in (racing) tires would have manufacturing quality down to a science.

As I posted in a reply to another racing tire thread, I ordered Hoosier 18245 (32x13.5-15W) that are listed in the catalog as 102 Circumference and 32.3 diameter (101.5) measured on a 14” wide rim. I used this tire last back in 2018 and it measured in the 102 - 102.5 with 10psi on 14” rims.

These tires arrive today correct sticker size and both marked 104-1/2. WTH. This is over 2” larger than the listed RO and won’t fit in my wheel well if 104.5 is actual. I ordered these from Summit just because I had a feeling about tire problems. Called Summit to see what other same 18245 tires are marked for RO in their stock and to have them contact Hoosier to find out what they have to say about the actual size vs the marked RO size once rimmed and inflated. Summit said if these are mounted they cannot be returned.

Those numbers are markings as they came out of the mold and useless to the racer, Just ignore them.

The first set of c1550s I got had 114 on them and I freaked out like you are, I mounted them and they measured 109.5
The 187500 c07 I have now on my PST were marked 106.5 and measure 103.5 mounted

Theyll probably measure 102” or less though

Ok Steve. I’ll take your advice on this. I’m sure you’re right. I talked to the agent at Summit just now and she said that this 104 -1/2 size is marked on several other 18245 tires at their Ohio location. I’ve been on MT tires too long.

I’ll post an update next week when I get them mounted. Thanks!

Installed 18245 tires late yesterday and initial size measured @ 10 psi was 100 -5/8 after sitting for 1 hr. One needed 3 oz and the other 5 oz to balance. I put them on the car, aired them up to 13 psi, loaded the car in trailer leaving early morning for the track.

I aired the tires down to 9.5 psi just prior to doing first BO. Very Smooth. Made three passes loosing second round today. After returning home tonight I just check the RO. One 101-1/16, other 101-1/8. I was hoping for slightly more RO, but Very happy with the results.
