What is difference in the two. Tried on a rev2 and liked it. Have fiound a rev1 at great price. Can live with little difference, but if totally uncomfortable and/or PIA to get into quick then useless at any price.

Quality, comfort or ease of getting suited up?

Hi Chris,

We have one of each. They’re very similar. The Rev2 is slightly lighter but you’d never feel that when wearing it. No different in terms of suiting up etc.

I’d say go for the original if the deal is good. Keep in mind they need to be certified every 5 years so if it’s out or close to it that could cut into the savings on a used one.

No plans for any event that require much more than big tires in rear, little tires in front, diaper to keep the track clean and money to play. I am sure there is a bracket race somewhere that inspects safety gear and I have just never heard of it.LOL

Understand the cert crap and if concerned about it I would buy new and bypass Hassel. Just looking out for the driver's safety. Old guys break easier than they use to. LMOAO

I'm with Rusty on this. I don't care what the event promoter checks for I wear all my safety equipment including a Necksgen for my safety, not because they require it.

I'm only 119 at best 1/8 mile but I still don't want to hit a solid wall head on even at 35mph without a neck restraint.

giys not reading my post fully. I don't care about cert.Only reason I am buying one is my safety. Same as I stated. The noone checks **** just means I am running brackets and nobody gives a **** about a cert date.

Have a collar. Two points. Hot as hell and not near as good at protecting the old guy as also stated above.

Wrong, I read your op fully and completely understood it. I also read your second comment which Rusty was replying to and I just agreed with him and gave my opinion on why I wear one. Make sense?

If you believe that SFI could give a **** about some of the safety items, then talk to Dennis Ridgway. He fought a good fight for racers. If you can't check this simple piece of equipment and tell if it's going to fail or not, you probably don't need to be behind the wheel of any performance vehicle. When is the last time you changed the belts in your daily driver?

yea we all know it is just a money scam. That is why I buy a lot of stuff that maybe out of cert but still does the job. Half the price and same effectiveness.

The reason I commented about the cert date is because a head and neck support will be required next year at NHRA tracks for any car faster than 150. As we know, tech is pretty limited at most places, but, they might be looking at these devices since it will be the first year they’re required.

I just had my necksgen re certified. The cost was less that 150 including shipping and the pads and tethers are replaced. Not bad for the peice of mind.

The main difference in the Rev 1 and 2 are the Rev 2 has adjustable tethers and sits better on my shoulders. I hated the Rev 1 but love the Rev 2.

Ok one very littel to no difference in fit and one hated it love the 2nd design.

I did try a 2 on and could barely tell it was there. Might have to wait to see if can find a 2. Heck with heat I have about 1.5 months before going to need. Well hope a lifetime before need.LOL
