I will be surprised if you don’t like the shaver/westmar gear drive. I’ve worked on race engines with milodon gear drives and liked them. The S/W unit to me is a much nicer piece. The S/W drives are used a lot on high end dirt track engines like in the super late models and 410 and unlimited sprints. Very heavy duty to hold up to the abuse some of those drivers can give an engine.

I'm sure I will! I researched the S/W drive after the original drives I was looking at. I find the S/W to be between the Milodon & RCD with the later probably being the best.

I ordered the RCD today. I am building a 463 Cu. In tall deck aluminum SBC with SB2 heads. The heads and cam should be here next week, I am almost done with short block. I think have all the gaskets and small things needed to complete it and then dyno. Considered other drives but I liked the way the RCD mounts the fuel pump much stronger than some of the others.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Shaver/Westmar are right on par with RCD. Just ask sprint car guys, they are very popular with the roudy round guys. Never heard a single bad thing about them,, ever.

Off topic, but how did you build a short block without having the heads/cam to verify clearances and such?
