Anything that would help is welcome over here. Saturday/Sunday lows are forecast at 18*. My body wasn't built for this. Fern is further inland from me and is likely gonna be colder than us spoiled coastal flatlanders. I inherited unbuildable swampland in Florida from my pop. I'm about ready to attempt to build on it and move.

BTR69Happy Friday folks. Encouraging and not so encouraging happenings here this week. the good, I may have my valve lash issues squared away for real now. took the Polylock that got buggered up to a friend who squared the face back up for me. Ran it a good bit today and is holding steady. Assumption is, someone prior to me getting the car, ran them way too loose for way too long, beating it up and allowing the damage. Have a new full set on the way here also. I'll be swapping all 16 to eliminate them as a potential problem down the line. The notso good, Forecasters say we're headed for a historical snowfall here tomorrow & Sunday. You'll laugh to know that anything approaching 12 inches of snow is called "historical" around here. LOL. Town will be shutdown until Tuesday I expect. More notso, the weather is forecast to be 30's-40's on our next scheduled race day. Still 8 days away, so there's still a chance for that to change for the better. Might be a boring few days around here I expect. Good thing I have heat in the shop.
Y'all stay warm out there.

BTR69Happy Humpday you'se all... Change in plans for my weekend, unfortunately, or maybe fortunately?. Appears every track within 3-4 hours that scheduled a race has postponed, due to cold and/or wet conditions from our snowstorm of the century. Not quite sure I'd be able to race anyway, which is the fortunate part. I tweaked my back a few days ago and I can barely walk right now. Happens once or twice a year over the past decade or so. Lasts anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. This time seems not as bad as usual so I'm optimistic on a shorter duration. Guess it's good timing with the weather slowing everything down this week. Received the new polylocks for engine yesterday. Once I can move reasonably pain free, I'll put em on. Did manage to get in the shop yesterday and clean my greasy handprints off the car, thankfully no bending or twisting, just limping, LOL. We have a Cars and Coffee event 1st Saturday every month, so maybe I'll head out there, limp around and enjoy looking over other people cars.
Fern, hope y'all are thawing out over there. cold weather sucks. I'm under the impression that our West coast friends are a bit warmer than us. Hope y'all out west are getting out for some hotrod fun. Did I mention, cold weather sucks?
Hey Bob, I got notice that we have sunshine and warmer temps on the way sometime in the next few days. Seems the winter bomb did a decent job delaying its delivery, but it's on the way. Thanks for shipping it out.

ferndaleflyerAnd if that weren't bad enough it was cut off on my TV at 9pm so the masked singer could be on. Give me a break. I don't yet know who won. Floyd I had somewhere around 1ft of snow and can't remember when it was above freezing. Oops they just said Preese won.

BTR69Good evening and Happy Valentines Day y'all. Hit CPD for their annual Valentines Day race. Had a great day, even though I loaded up after a 2nd round loss. 1st time run of the day was .000, so I had some measure of bragging rights for a couple hours. 2nd round, I had the reddest red light in the history of red lights. Distracted myself after goofing up my staging process, and got waaaaaaay ahead of things when the amber lights dropped. Got a really good laugh when I saw the time slip, and turned in any bragging rights I previously had. Had a good ET though. LOL. Car is getting closer to where it should be on ET and 60' times. Going to take a friends advice and raise my launch RPM a fair bit. Currently leaving at 5000. He suggests 6000+. He says RAM told him when he was having similar soft'ish launches, the clutch fingers aren't working until around 6400. Adding base pressure prior to todays race did knock .10 off my 60' times. Learning a little bit every run I make with this hotrod. Clutch car is far different than the Automatic cars I've run in the past.
Hope y'all are all doing well and staying warm out there.

ferndaleflyerUp in Baltimore once more. Not a happy trip as was for best friends funeral. 60+ years and the sickle man final caught up. Guess we can’t run forever. Heading back South to NC in a couple hours. Hope the weather holds. As everyone gets back to racing I have the transmission 1/2 out of the car changing the converter waiting for me when I get back. Hope everyone is doing well.

BTR69Happy Hump Day kids... Hope everyone is doing well.
Fern, sorry to hear about a not-so happy trip. I'm still relatively young'ish, but seem to find those times come more frequently nowadays. I try to look at those times/trips as celebrating them and the friendship I had with them. Hopefully he won the race and is chilling out in Heaven.
I've been doing some preventative maint on the car this week and planning to head to KDS for their Winter Warm Up race this Saturday. Trying to get my work season started as well, as I've been slowly going broke over the winter. Thinking I may have a reasonable game plan, for both work and racing this season.
Y'all have a great day.

CURTIS REEDSorry for the loss of your friend Fern.

BTR69Happy last day of the month y'all. KDS cancelled their race for today. Yesterdays rain got the place too wet it seems. Parking areas are the concern from what I heard. Slow start to my day so far, but looking like I'll be headed to the shop in a bit to unload the car and drain some more oil for another oil analysis check. I sent off my sample Monday and got results today. There are areas of concern. Either later today or sometime tomorrow, I'll update my post on the oil analysis, after I've printed it out and looked it over some more.
Hope everyone's getting along ok out there.

I try to chime in every week or so, but have noticed over the past weeks/months, it's been a bit quiet. I figure folks may be busy or sleeping. Hope things are good over there on the left coast Floyd.

ferndaleflyerGot back from Baltimore ok. Sat we had to attend another of the dinners at NC State for people who have given to their scholarship program. What a deal. Somehow we were at the number 1 table sitting with the acting dean of the AG program. Also at our table was the person we helped this year. No Kinston plans because of this so rain out didn't matter. Next week we will be at a similar deal at another benefactor, Pembroke University. Trying to spread the wealth, LOL. Today here I don't know how warm it was but must have been close to 80. I was out there in a T shirt sweating. Yes I looked at my race car and will try to continue the converter change tomorrow. Floyd we been here a long time. The loss of my best friend bothered me deeply as we talked every day and now there is an empty spot. Everyone stay safe.

BTR69Happy Thursday y'all. It's a really nice day here in Southeast NC. Think I'll skip work today. Got a tree that we dropped a couple weeks ago that needs to be chopped up, loaded up and taken to the mulch pit. Need to hit my other house and clean up some yard debris. Granddaughter wants to go to the children's museum and I need to load the hotrod up for Saturdays race at Kinston. While I'm optimistic about all this, I have reason to believe, if I go with Nana and Granddaughter, I'll get nothing else done... LOL. Something's likely to be put off til tomorrow. Y'all have a great day....
