Happy Sunday y'all. Finally made it to the track and made passes. Car is running great. 60ft is slow, clutch is set up pretty soft and not launching near as hard as it should. No complaints though, it's only been a decade since I've raced and this car been on a dragstrip. My brother had to have been there, since I managed a 1st round win. I had a terrible light, but opponent was way worse. Thinking Mike was holding the guy back for me, LOL. Lost 2nd round. I had .003 green to other guys .037 green, but I slowed down and missed my number. Driver error on timely shifts. All in all, I had one helluva great day. Made a couple of mistakes and learned a few lessons. Very optimistic about making more races this season.

Unfortunately, later in the evening, there was a bad top end wreck. I had already left. I don't know much, aside from driver was alert and conscious. I heard he was transferred to Duke Medical Center where he's apparently scheduled for surgery. Saw a FB post about it and having permission to share info, so if anyone want's to say a prayer for the driver, his name is Farron Shepard. I don't know him, but am praying he heals up quickly from this.

Hope everyone out there has a great and safe week.

Really cool that you finally got to the track William. Sounded like a pretty trouble free day. That is always fun.

I pulled my trans to put in a new ATI 136 tooth flexplate. As I torqued the last flexplate bolt it was one of those moments when you think, it doesn't feel like it's tightening. AAAAnd it wasn't. Grabbing a new set of bolts on the way home tonight. LOL This set had only been in and out maybe 20 times. ARP needs to step up their quality control. Laughing Hard

Good evening y'all. Hope all is well with everyone. Curtis, it appears you got your moneys worth outta those bolts.

Pulled the hotrod in the shop Wednesday to give it a quick going over and tighten up clutch. #7 exhaust lash got a little loose again. After chasing this problem back in November, then thinking it was squared away, it's back. Ran the car several times, up & down our road and it stayed put, same as all others. Different story after running it hard, as it's intended use. Swapped rockers and locks with one that's proven it's holding steady, but haven't had time to run it for more than a short warm up. I guess next step if it loosens up again will be pulling the head. May have time tomorrow to address the clutch, then make the neighbors happy with a few test passes out front. The water leak in the trailer seems to be squashed, but now one of the ramp hinges had enough and said, no more. That's above my pay grade, so it's going to a professional, hopefully this week. Putting serious thought into fire suppression as well. Started a new thread on that.

Hey Fern, Feb 7, KDS has $3000 to win Top and $3000 to win Mod. As long as I fix this thing right this time, I'll be there.

Y'all have a great week.

Might be there--I still need to change this converter and I'll be gone this week and probably part of next. Used to come there every year for the winter fest. Long time ago

Good morning Doug.

The wife and I have joined a new gym and I've been working on my car. I can't tell if I'm sore from lifting or hurt something working in the garage. Didn't think of that

Looks like Winter is going to show up this weekend around here for a couple days. Supposed to be a high of 22° Saturday and snow. We usually don't get much snow when it gets that cold though and it only lasts a couple days when we do. Even still I hate Winter. I don't know how people up North deal. Y'all have a good day.

Happy Saturday y'all. Hope everyone is staying warm with the winter storm blowing through. Somewhere I heard it's supposed to affect 40'ish states. Planned on working in the shop today, but youngest daughter guilt tripped me to doing some indoor home chores and we just finished up. Walked outside and it's too damm frigid for me. Back inside for breaktime, aka naptime coming soon. I figure I'll bump this one back to the top before I shut my eyes.

Good'ish news happened yesterday. I finally found my #7 exhaust problem, I think. Base of the Poly Lock is deformed. A lil hard to see, but it has a slight groove worn into base and there's a small lip around the entire circumference at the base as well. Hard to see the lip, but my fingernail can feel it. I'm assuming that could happen if the lash is run too loose, allowing the rocker trunion to move around? Or maybe too tight, effectively squashing the surfaces together? Open to opinions on that. Having a new set delivered next week, weather permitting. Rocker does appear ok, so I'm really curious how this would happen. Did a little decluttering in the shop as well. Still a lot more to do, so I'll be back in there later this afternoon, I think.

Y'all stay safe out there in those freezing temps.

Fern, I hope ya get home before next weekend. They're already forecasting another winter storm sometime around Friday/Saturday. Calling for over an inch snow with below 20's temps here in Wilmington. I think further inland typically gets it far worse than we do in these events. Maybe I'm wrong.... Hope I'm wrong.... If I want snow, I'll go find it.
