Fern, I'm glad things are getting better.

We get snakes at my front door quite often. Last was a 3' rat snake. We just let them be.

Worst was about 18" long and when I opened the door if fell and wrapped around my wrist. I don't really have a fear of snakes but I might have screamed like a little girl and yeeted that sucker across the carport. I still have no idea what kind of snake it was. Blue Man Laughing Hard

Another time I was sitting in the house and heard my wife yelling my name pretty excitedly. I ran out on the steps in my socks and she points saying, "there is a snake on the steps"!!! I look down and there is a decent size Water Moccasin about 20" from my feet. Fought that sucker for a bit with a broom in one hand and pistol in the other. Was going to get rid of it permanently but he got away.

I got to do some racing the last 2 weekends finally. Was still in fourth round 2 weeks ago when rain got us, split and quit. Last weekend racing for 5K both days got popped 5th round at 9 cars both days. Made my entry back but that's all. Plan is to start clearing the 7 acres covered in trees tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good weekend

Happy Saturday y'all. Hope everyone's weekend has gone well and keeping the snakes at bay. LOL. Ordered a few parts for the race car this weekend. Did a little bit of cleaning to it as well. Work has lightened up enough that I can take some time for myself finally. Having a little fun Friday kinda-sorta derailed me a bit for the weekend. Went surfing 1st thing Friday am, bailed out of a wave as I've done hundreds of times before and took a direct hit from the face of the wave in my left ear. Got it looked at as a precaution and doc says I put a hole in my eardrum. That's a first for me and hurts like a sumbich. Should heal up, but damm it's uncomfortable right now. Adding insult to my weekend, my primary truck is giving me the "service DEF, see dealer" message. Supposedly something to do with DEF injector. Easy enough, you'd think. Removed it today to clean it up and one of the two bolts broke off. Fun times. Cleaned and reinstalled. Seems good and tight with one bolt,,, hopefully. Will drive tomorrow and see if it clears the message. If not, new one goes in. Started working on replacing the steering rack in my #2 truck this evening. Damned ear talked me into cutting that short and going inside for the night. May finish it tomorrow after church. Life is still good and looking better for running a hotrod before the end of the year.

Have a great weekend...

William I hope that ear heals quickly.

No snakes today just a bunch of limb trimming, chipping and shredding.

Think I did something to my ham string muscle. I know it still hurts like he!! when I walk. Anyway life goes on. Rebuilt both front calipers as they were sticking. Probably pick up a tenth. Anyway finished that and mowed the back yard today. A big limb fell out of one of my trees out front, I at least looked at it. Good race going on at Farmington today and tomorrow. Everyone stay safe.

Good evening and happy Monday. Hope y'all are doing well. Managed to make some time last week and chip away at the to do list for the race car. New Release bearing and pilot bearing got here last week, along with a couple necessary tools that I thought I have, but either lost, loaned out (aka lost), or will find in an obvious place after using the new ones for the 1st time. Doesn't really seem like a lot got done, but with the time I'm able to put in, the small steps will eventually pay off. Planned to work on it all weekend, but wife hit me with a birthday surprise, (56 as of last Friday), and took me to Charlotte for the weekend and Sundays Panthers game. They treated Atlanta like a jv team, 30-0. Seems really odd to say, but that's the 1st NFL game I've attended. Always been content with watching on TV. I can say for certain that it was far better being there opposed to on TV. Looks like a pretty good week ahead for work and should allow for more time to hang out in the garage with the car. Y'all have a great week.

Spent the last week in Durham as it was mamas birthday and needed to make her happy. How about 800 or so at the million. Seems the added purse and specialty races are doing well. Don't think it helps the local low purse, low entry folks but thats the way the world works. Lets just hope they continue to prosper. I just got home a little while ago so will see what the rest of the week brings. Spread your wings William!!!!

Still here! It started out as a missing header bolt, had to take off the front wheel to get to it and discovered a dragging wheel caliper. rebuilt both of those. That lead to upper control arm bushings needing replaced which lead to a new upper ball joint. This crap is a pain in the a$$. Maybe I should pay better attention. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Later.

Happy Friday y'all.

Fern, it seems to be some sorta unwritten rule, that 2-12 other things will raise their ugly heads when doing something simple during a simple repair or preventative maintenance. Hope everything is going back together right the 1st time over there.

Made progress on a race car today. Clutch is back where it belongs and bellhousing is almost bolted in. Somehow, it appears a handful of bolts disappeared, so I'll be hunting those down tomorrow. 3 bolts is enough to say it's up there though. Really need to put a lift in there. My back hates me right now, since laying on that concrete floor and so many times up and down from underneath. Cardboard doesn't pad it down very well. Gotta storm brewing offshore that's supposed to hose us down next week. Glad my busy season is lightening up. A storm delay won't hurt my feelings so much now.

Y'all have a great weekend.

And after the grass gets watered? I got it all back together William but going to do a few more things as I go along. Leaving in a few for Durham for a few days. Got a retirement get together to go to then the VA on Tuesday. That front came by here and it is raining now + I have some tree limbs down in front yard. State paved the road in front of my house, sure made it nice. You look up the race coming up at Roxboro, looks like a good one. Later.

Had not heard anything about the Roxboro race. Just checked their schedule and see Oct 18/19 a couple big money races. Same weekend there's a Classic Gear Jammers race, 252 grudge racing and index racing at CPD. I've been to a few of the events hosted by the 252 group and they typically put on a great event.

Got a message and video clip last night from a friend at the big IHRA race in Ohio this weekend. Her daughter got to sing the National Anthem. Really cool to see her get airtime there. She's got serious talent and sings at events around the Ohio area.

Hit the garage this morning to find a large puddle in front of the car. Rain seeped in from the bay door overnight. Spent the first part of my day with the shop vac, removing a few gallons and drying my floor. Now that I know where the intrusions are coming from, I can make a plan to fix it. One at the side and this one up front. Got the correct bolts together today and finished the Bellhousing. Now I get to take it back out. Need to make a couple of adjustments to set the air gap correctly. Thought I had a good starting point, by using my onslow county math skills. Seems I need a refresher course, LOL? No biggie, tomorrow will get that done.

Have a great weekend.

Usually cooler weather doesn't break here until the second week of October but it has now. Mid seventies during the day and mid fifties at night. The "Down side" is it's still dark at 6:00 AM and getting dark at 5:00 PM (soon to be 3:30). With the approaching time change to Eastern Standard time it'll be worse. The time change "Thing" never made any sense.

Happy Friday y'all. Cooler weather has slowed work down enough that I can make time for the race car. Had to take the bellhousing back out to work on setting the air gap to the release bearing. Silly mistake was found. I took reference pics when taking the bellhousing out, so I wouldn't screw up the re-install, and I still screwed it up. LOL. Has billet fork and I installed it upside down. How's Fred Sanford say it? "You big dummy"... Mistake fixed, air gap appears correct. Clutch and tranny are now back where they belong in the car. Ready to put the car on the floor again and prime the engine for some runtime. Hopefully do that tomorrow. I do need to swap the U-joint, but I can drive it up-n-down the road with what's in it now. Feels pretty damm stiff and not worth the risk racing it with this one.

Bob, I've been anti fall back with the time changes my entire life. I've heard many reasons why the govt did it waaaay, back when. No clue the real reason, but I'm not a fan.

Hey Chuck, I think I remember you saying you'd be announcing the WDRA at Galot this weekend. My home track CPD is there with some badass drivers competing. I'd hoped to go just to support them, but finally getting some momentum working on my stuff here, so I'm gonna stay put and get as much done as I can. Hope it's a good weekend out there.

Y'all have a great weekend.

Good morning DRR, the few of you that still participate. Always good to see Floyd stick his head up. William I have known Chuck long before DRR but he don't chime in much anymore. He is a good person. Mike Hawks started this thread years ago and is still up there in Cana, VA but seems to have forgotten us. Saw Maicy Stewart win a 10k at Maple Grove yesterday. I knew her Dad when he was about the same age and good to see her continue the family tradition.
I must have ran over something in My motor home as one of the inside rear tires had a chunk cut out of the side of it. Called my road service and they sent someone out to change it for me. Fuel gauge is bouncing around in the race car, one more thing. But life goes on and so far is pretty good. Everyone stay safe.

Fern,
I thought I had Mike's contact info but I guess I don't.
Why do you have a fuel gauge in your race car?

Happy Sunday y'all. Good to hear all is well out there Floyd. Can't say I've ever had menudo. I thought that was a Mexican band from the 90's. LOL...

Fern, hope the fuel gauge isn't an issue. Friend had pressure issues when the foam in his fuel cell disintegrated and plugged up the pump and filter. I had a Holley Blue pump that started seizing up causing pressure issues as well. The small vanes inside were getting stuck, due to corrosion. I guess the Exxon pump gas I used back then wasn't quite moisture free...

I see where my CPD buddies are in the top 3 after 2 rounds at GALOT today. Hopefully they can bring home the hardware.

Planned to put the car on the ground today, but think I'll wait. Wanna do a quick cleaning underneath now. Installed the shifter this afternoon. Looks a lot better inside the car now.

Y'all have a great week.
