BTR69"Good Morning Drr" 11,000 strong and growing, stop in a say hello.
Made progress today. Got rained out of work early this afternoon, so headed home and gave the hotrod some attention. Work area is de-cluttered and car is on stands and blocks now. Didn't realize daughter and granddaughter were going to be here this evening, so I didn't get parts set out and organized yet. Pretty confident I'll make some good progress this weekend. Things are looking up. Hope y'all are doing well out there.

ferndaleflyerThis rain has been rough William. Grass is high. I got the center section out of the car yesterday and rebuilder guy will get it today. That is the dirtiest mess I ever worked on and no way to pressure wash it before this job. Still hot and humid here, everyone stay safe and drink water.

Floyd StaggsDamn, tsunami warnings yesterday now earthquakes today.

WooleyBtr69, fern, it’s good to hear yall are making some progress on your cars. Mine has been sitting collecting dust for a year. I hope to get back on it in September. Maybe by then we will have a break in the temperature here in Georgia.

ferndaleflyerCenter section and new gears are at the shop now for the grass. Started to change mower blades yesterday in the un air conditioned part of my shop and the sweat was pouring off of me so stopped and will try to finish this morning. Still to wet to mow.
Trying to get up the courage to put in this new converter while I am at it. Its been laying here for a year or more. Good bye 1.30+ 60ft and hello + 3 or 4 Mph. Probably easier on rear gears to. You all stay safe & drink water. Who would have thought my 84 year old a$$ would be doing this instead of the rocking chair.

Floyd StaggsFern I'm happy for you that you are still able. Keep it up, Ole Buddy!

B KINGFern,
If I was nearby, I would gladly lend a hand. But you seem to have things pretty well handled!
2BKING would help anyone on DRR even old ED but of course he needs no help.

WooleyFern you are an inspiration for sure. I hope in 22 years when I’m your age I’m still going strong as you. I’d be happy to come lend a hand but too far away.

ferndaleflyerI am beyond help Bud. I just ignore all the aches and pains and keep going. I can drop dead anywhere, better to be doing something I like than worrying about what I can't do. Its been an interesting journey that even I don't believe. Life has been good. Been to to many funerals.

Barry,
Might go visit what was Thompson Raceway Park, I think it's called Kuns something now. No DRR members that I know of.

BTR69Happy Sunday evening y'all. Fern, how's the grass looking over there? Haven't cut our front in 3 weeks and it's getting difficult to see our granddaughter out there now. Haven't mowed the back once. LOL... Mowed the yard at our "for sale" house Saturday. Think it was 4 weeks for that one. Looks like a mowed down wheat field now.. Temps in Eastern NC should be much cooler this week. Maybe I'll mow my back yard for the first time ever this week? LOL
Made some progress on the race car today. Actually more running around to find what I need, instead of actual work, but that's still progress. Bellhousing is an old Lakewood unit. I sent it out to Holley in March 2023 for recertification. I assume they went though every bolthole with something, but damm they're not quite right. They're pretty and clean as can be, but damm clutch fork pivot bolthole wouldn't accept the bolt. Had to run a tap through. lots of debris came out, but it's silky smooth now. Sadly, my tap & dies have gone missing since moving, so that was one trip to pick up new ones. I'm sure I'll find them this week in some obscure place. I'll clean up all the other holes as time allows. Can't find my clutch alignment tool either. Called parts store and he said he had what I need. Drove there, trip #2, and he was wrong. I guess when I said I need an 18 spline tool, he figured universal would do the trick? 2 more stops to other local parts stores with no luck. Roughly 2 hours working in shop and 1+ hour running around for tap/die set and nonexistent alignment tools.
Hope everyone's week goes well and productive.

ferndaleflyerWilliam we hit the yard today. The mower has a 26HP motor and it was struggling all day long. Got stuck in the ditch out front, 4 wheeler wouldn't start so pulled it out with the F150. Still got a truck load of limbs to get in the pile.
Race car 3rd member is at the shop. More on that later. I guess my Mercedes has found a new home as I have heard nothing about it after a week. I told him not to call until he would guarantee it was fixed. Nice cool weather here today thank heavens. Everyone stay safe

BTR69Happy wet Wednesday y'all. So far, with 31 days in July and 8 days into August, I believe we've had rain at least 30 of those days. On our 2nd round for the day right now. At least it's not a monsoon. Friend said his rain gauge hit 5 inches one day last week. Fern, If ya wanna trade, I'll pull your trans and do the converter if you mow my lawn here. I'm about tired of playing in the wet grass.
Making small progress on the race car. Don't get much time to spend on it, but the baby steps are still moving me forward. Thankful I have a shop now instead of the driveway and a canopy. Got all threaded holes cleaned up nice n smooth and everything put together in bellhousing, then decided I'm not happy with how the throwout bearing feels. That's something I probably should have considered a while back. Got a few parts to order, so that will be added.
Hope everyone's having a great week.

ferndaleflyerOK, my car had 4.44 gears in it that I thought was to much gear. Only thing I could get quick was 4.56 thus the reason to change the converter. Gear came and I never opened the box and when the rear assembler opened it it turned out they had sent me a 4.86. Now what? One of our old nascar rear end guys had a set of left over 4.30 which he traded me for the 4.86. SO--as of this morning it is on the way to being set up. Thanks William but for now the converter stays.
It has rained non stop here for over 24 hours. All the rivers and creeks are running over and its still raining. Every bone in my body aches when it is like this but life goes on thankfully. Everyone stay safe.

CURTIS REEDWilliam I will mow for you if you don't mind some ruts. LOL
You have to clear about 60% of these trees for me though. This is my 10 acres and you can see what I can mow/brush hog.
New chipper/shredder is on the way and should have a splitter any day. As soon as it starts cooling off they are going to start coming down.
.

BTR69Curtis, that's a lot of firewood you're about to have on your hands. I'm planning on clearing out an easement behind my shop that the state is supposed to maintain. Judging by the looks, they're way overdue for a visit. I'll be renting one of those shredder/grinders to dispose of the mess. Hope they don't mind. That way I can inconspicuosly use it somewhat as my own. Better to ask forgiveness than permission?
Fern, hope the gear change works out for the best and things dry out over there soon.
Looking pretty good for me getting home early tomorrow and spending more quality time with the car. Might even mow my lawn before it heats up so much.
Have a great evening y'all.

B KINGUpdate on our road trip. We got back to Northeastern Ohio yesterday from Niagra Falls. I must say I was relieved, Niagra was a zoo of tourists & of course we added to it. I don't do well people/crowds.
We are headed to Kuhnle Motorsports Park tomorrow for some motorcycle, quad & snowmobile drag racing.
We are leaving OH. on Tues. heading for MI.
Hope all is well with everyone!
