This past Thanksgiving race the announcers named a driver of a Tesla "The Silent Assassin". He was entered in all 3 classes, ran every bonus race & run for the money time runs.

I know some have had mixed feelings about an EV running brackets. I was trying to follow its progress over the many races & even tried to line up with him. Anyway, what I did observe is; The silent Assassin seemed to consistently go rounds on everything entered. I don't think the Assassin won any of the races. He did put out a good many Hitters for round wins.

So, what would you do, if anything, if you got paired up with an EV?

What do you mean by, "what would you do"?

I would race him like I would any other car. I don't care for them but if allowed by the promoter what could you do? I'm probably biased because I'm a footfeeder and don't care for any electronics.

IF you don’t care for electronics then you would seriously have a problem with the one that SFG let’s show up at his races….I’m not saying ban them forever but they don’t know no more about them then I do….I say they are worse then running a 7531 box….An oh yeah most promoters don’t know shyt about them either

The launch control mode takes 8 to 10 seconds to activate after the car comes to a complete stop.

Maybe something to keep in mind.

It is simple really no track can handle a fire situation with an EV vehicle. Hell a normal firehouse would have issues putting a EV fire out.

I wouldn't have a problem with any of it if I made the decision to race at one of those races because it is an electronics race. I just prefer the racing without it all. Still, if the promoter decides they are legal, what can you do but race them or stay home?

Curtis,

You answered your own question & mine. You just left out "if anything".

Earlier this year, I lost on ladder to a tesla. He was .006 or 8, I was .025. Simple math. I got treed.

I ran him same as I do others though was later at tree than wanted but thats racing. I was stuck in teens that day and was late on ladder in 2nd race. Maybe was begining of converter issue I had or just me getting sloppy.

One of these days there will be a fire in a pit area that will engulf cars, trailers, motorhomes (with propane tanks) and people. The outcome will be horrific due to the pit congestion and inability to vacate the area quickly.

Some time ago NHRA mandated that motorhomes have a large fire extinguisher. I'm not certain that anyone is complying or, frankly if they would do any good. If a fire starts it will be a major disaster. A fire with an EV can easily be the catalyst that initiates that event. As was mentioned fully equipped Fire Trucks can't extinguish a EV fire, a few people with hand held extinguishers will be over-whelmed.

I hope this never happens, the opportunity with a EV fire is much higher.

This is a real concern to EMS/Firemen. Reminder of nuke style meltdown from stored energy. We had ni-cad batteries in RC cars do it when racing them years ago with kid. Nothing to do beyond toss a puddle then. Hard to do with a full size car.

Not that I saw. He tows a teardrop camper to track. Others I have seen use generator.

This one dails 7.4x, I have seen others in 6.7x range.

Ultimately I think they deserve own class, optimized they would dominate over IC engined vehicles with exception of hitting tree. With cameras/sensor tech they may be able to address that with time.

I have said I would NEVER drive a Front Wheel Econobox pile of junk. But I ended up with a SS HHR and I love it. Good gas mileage, fun to drive, corners like a go cart, actually most comfortable car I have ever had or drove and it actually runs pretty good.

Now I am saying same thing about electric cars. I will never own an electric car. Things will have to change dramatically before I would own one and I do not see it happening in our life times.
1. They would need to charge faster.
2. There would need to be charging stations as close as gas stations.
3. They would have to have more range.
4. They would have to be cost effective meaning if you need batteries in 4 years it should not cost you $15,000, $20,000 or more and the cost of new batteries should be figured in cost of operating them. Unless batteries lasted 8 or 10 years or more which I doubt will happen.

As for them bracket racing electric cars I do not really like that idea. If they do they should probably be in their own class.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

So in that case NO EV should never ever drive on the property then....correct? The danger risk would be just as high right?

Let me ask. Where are all the Mustang Mach-E's at? Where are all the Chevy Bolts at? Where are all the 1000HP Hummers at?

Tesla-S Plad. Elon Musk must have planned to take over no-box bracket racing with this $140,000 car.

I agree with what you're trying to say here. However, if someone was smart enough and thought ahead, they could in theory buy this car then cheat it up (If its possible), then go to the Labor Day 250k, no split, win the race and have a free car and good pay day.

I too would likely never buy an EV. They do not fit in my application. If I did not need to travel more than a few miles they may work. All electric RVs are popular in discussion boards. I cannot see as practical anytime soon. My e450 based track RV is way too effective to replace.

The incidence of EV fires is low per NTSB, but each seems to be severe. I keep my gas cans in back shed for a logical reason.

They have come long way but have a lot further to go before would fit my application.
