Given a choice between someone who is on blood thinners or someone that is vaxxed with 6 boosters, I think the blood thinner driver may pose less risk.

There is no questions on a medical form filled out by your doctor about any medications you take, I just reviewed the forms

If you get cleared by your doctor on that form you're ok as far as I ever knew

I asked my cardio doc because I was concerned I could not get back in a car and race and he said "why not" !!

I've been taking a lot of meds for over a year and the blood thinner risk is minimal after some time. It was concerning for a while.....and is a big part of why I sold all my stuff

I have zero problems now with any meds I take and I still take Xarelto which is listed as an anti coagulant....

No I don't really plan to get back racing but never heard of this issue before...

so if that is the case am i done racing completely or can only run under 10.0's

That's new to me and is obviously LAWYER driven....

One look around at an NHRA event especially in Stock and Super Stock and you see by far mostly racers well up in age.....A senior citizen convention ! How many have had procedures and take meds ? A lot and the 10.0 and faster cars are plentiful, even in Stock....

NHRA must have gotten sued or been advised to send this one out realizing their liability.....

The negatives just keep multiplying in my opinion, for me anyway.

Lol, you are right if there is a "Certain" blood thinner that is not allowed then tell us what it is.

Any racer who has had heart bypass surgery is on some kind of blood thinner. That would eliminate a lot of racers including funny car owner driver Paul Lee. Like the post above says, "certain blood thinners" whatever that means. Hell most blood pressure meds thin your blood, I know mine does

Exactly what I was thinking. I think he had a heart attack and many times they do angioplasty....a stent.....like I had done twice....and that usually means they put you on an anti coagulant

Why would you tell? I know doctor moight but good doctor would kep his mouth shut ,just not tell or I would have another doctor. JMO

Having blood thinner means you are controlling it and why should that be penalized?

I should probably not let them know I take a baby aspirin every day then. LOL

It says certain blood thinners. I would be interested i knowing which ones specifically they are not allowing

You can’t get a pilots license on “certain anti depressants” but others are fine to take and there is a list of approved ones

There is usually a counter form to everything though to take away liability such as diabetics with a cdl. You can still get a cdl if you are a diabetic, just have to fill out some forms

From my experience after my fathers heart attack (mind you it was in 2009 when you still had to get the physical) the issue was blood thinners that also had anti clotting properties. From when I talked to NHRA the concern was someone bleeding out.

I know back then Plavix was ok, but Coumadin was the one they would not allow you to drive on.

From what I can tell from limited research. Anti platelets are allowed, anti coagulants are not allowed

Anti-platlets include: aspirin, clopidogrel (plavix), parsugrel (Effient), ticragelor (Brilinta)

Anti-coagulants include: warfarin (Coumadin), apixaban (eliquis), rivaroxaban (xarelto), dabigitran (pradaxa)
