Just wondered if there is anyone on DRR from Central Kentucky, like Bremen or Liberty ? Trying to gain information about both locations.

Bob, don't tell me you are leaving California to? You can't leave, you just got here! Yikes.

I just got here 62 years ago Larry, before all the CRAZY liberals took over. Once upon a time this was a nice place to live, not any more. Mike made an offer on a really nice place in Bremen. He's going.

Bet Mike will be glad to get out of SoCal. Lots of drag racing in that part of the country for sure

Good, happy for him. I'm to old to move permanently but I do have a home in Bend, Oregon where I get my fix several times a year. Allows me to race in Woodburn, Oregon and Seattle with less driving. Besides I have my car and motorcycle collection here in So Cal. To darn cold in the winter up there to work on them.

Larry, you're never too old. Last year on my 76th birthday, I was on I40 across AZ. and NM. with wife in the truck with me, and also the animals in a rented toy hauler headed for our new home in OK. after living in CA. all my life. Yes, big change and $$$, but wished now we had done it years ago. Can't put a price on peace of mind!

Bob that's a great area. Lynn Ellison is from Central City which is about 20 min or so from there. For sure in the middle of nowhere. Very central for racing though. BG will only be about an hour and other smaller tracks close also.

What made him choose there?

Just a handful of reasons Scot.

(1) The shrinking opportunity to find a race track less than 330 miles from home (San Diego).

(2) The Ultra-Liberal Woke politics in California.

(3) Watching California life style fade from what it once was to the disaster it's become. Rampant crime with no accountability, the "Rights" of criminals are more important than the Rights of victims, homeless camps everywhere and a culture where no one wants to raise their children.

Good to know that Lynn lives only a few miles away.

Ya but a town of about 200? That's a big move from Escondido! He just throw a dart at the wall? Close to Owensboro. I assume he's got work lined up.

Central City is about 8 miles from the house that Mike made a bid on. Yes, the current. population is around 175 so it's probably a place where everyone knows everyone, Mike will love that (NOT). Rural Kentucky life will be perfect for Mike, quiet, private with LOTS of drag strips.

He's applying for a job at a Liquor Store (Liquor Stop) in Central City as a professional taste tester. Perhaps you know the owner and could put in a good word ?

Ha! Lynn sold those stores a few years ago. He is close to Owensboro though and Oakley's are always looking for reliable people.

Scot: Mike has decades of high end cylinder head and machine shop experience. He spoke with Phil at BG this year but not sure he wants to go back to that work.

Smart guy with 40 + years of circle track and drag racing experience.

Happy New Year!

Bob, Rob, Mike and Brian

PS: The strongest thing Mike has ever had to drink was a diet coke.

Living in the country will get any city dwellers attention. Grand daughter was here last 2 days from Tampa and got to experience the joys of driving 25mi to get a gallon of milk or to find a place to eat. They may now be rethinking buying a place in the country with 30 or 40 acres. Plenty of work if you drive far enough. Me, I like cows, chickens, deer, no cable, and no neighbors. I worked a long time ago so I don't have to now.

Fern - I always said living in the country you "need" a larger pantry.

I live an hour or so from Liberty use do be a quite town for the most part small population. Nearest race track would be London Ky or a little longer to Beech Bend in Bowling Green. And if you wanted to drive a couple hours or so theres Ohio Valley north of Louisville and also US 60 raceway in Hardinsburg KY. Beautiful facility just redone starting line to finish line . Im not that familiar with Bremen. Its Mostly conservative. Wages will not compare to Your state but cost of living and taxes are much lower Also Lexington Is only a short drive. Best of luck on your decision.

While Mike is in Kentucky he is also going to look at a house in Liberty. That house had several features that I liked better, not that my opinion matters, it's his money. The only draw back was the depth of the garage and the length of the dragster 280 inches. A plus is that it's closer to a major airport but (-) doesn't have a tornado shelter.

This will be resolved very soon and he'll be headed East with no intention of ever going back to the left coast. I believe he'll like living in rural Ky.

Bremen is at the top of list list but that house has to undergo an inspection and a property assessment so it could still fall out.
